Guys, who has the part number for this kit made by Nissan? I read about it but the service manager had no idea what I was talking about. Who all uses it?

 

just bring him the data dot TSB...show that to them and they'll know exactly what to do..trust me, my dealer is like that too

I called one dealer and the kit is 75 bucks but he said he is almsot sure they woudl charge for instalation. What does the hood lock do? Can you still open the hood like normal?

If you put in these tamper resistant bolts does that mean you will never be able to remove the headlights?

 

DATA DOTS != Anti Theft Kit.

 

This sounds like the ineffective theft deterrent kit, not the Data Dots recall. Do not fall for this as it is completely a waste of money. Thieves do not have to open the hood to get your lights so what good is a hood lock?

 

What is this "Data Dots recall'?

I am not familiar with that term.

 

Do you people not realize the side-effects of doing this? Here's what I said in the other thread...

"Oh God...you do realize that now the thieves will end up damaging your fenders and hood when they try to steal them, right? It's the dumbest safety measure ever, just let them rip the HIDs out clean."

 

This may be true, but eventually word gets out that it's not worth trying to steal because it will take too long, and you'll come away with useless parts since you can't get to the ballasts anymore by just ripping out the headlights. Maybe it's just me, but I've noticed a lot less "OMFG my HID's got jacked!!" threads lately.

 

instead of the enitre kit do you all think it is wise just to change out the bolts? After you change them out is it then inpossibel to remove the headlights ever? What if they needed to be replaced?
