Nissan wants to buyback my 03

basically the letter states we would like to exchange your current vehicle for any new 05 Nissan w/ factory incentives and generous trade-in values, we feel confident that you can make this exchange with little or no money out of my pockets. My question is has anyone done this or had any experience with it? I dont want to go to the dealer and play games with them, i have no time for that. thanks

This way the Maxima doesn't plummet in resale value like it has been so far. They buy it from you and sell it for much more. It all depends on what you want and how much you are willing to spend I guess. Do you want a new car?

PROMOTIOAL SALES GIMMIC! You go in and they work you over to buy a new vehicle and then they screw you on your trade. If yo are looking to buy you can goto kbb.com or nadaguides to find out what the dealer paid for the new car then offer them 300-500 over invoice, THEN make a deal with your trade-keep the 2 transactions seperate!

I got the same thing but a phone call a few days ago from the dealer where I bought mine. They wanted me to bring my car in and "upgrade" to a 2005. That they said about the Nissan Million Sales Event. Which I heard about, I told them I'll think about it since I love my 01 Max but I don't think i really want to "upgrade" to a 05' Max since it's not the same.

6th gens suck. they are much more like a family sedan than a sports sedan. stick with the 03 unless you really want to trade up or get a new car.

It's like that letter they send out where all these ppl are supposedly looking for the EXACT same car that you own, and the dealer are then obligated to fill their used-car needs! Oh, and for your time, they'll screw u into another car payment. Bet that's what it is, lotsa ppl looking for '90 Sentra XE's right about now!

My grandma got the same thing for her '01 Aztek.....haha, not enuf of those to go around apparently

i get those sales letters all the time. once a dealer (when the car was getting a free oil change) put a hangtag in my window with an "estimation" of my maxima's value in case i wanted to trade it in.

If they call me, I'll ask them if the 2005 upgrade means they'll come out and put the 2005's engine in my 2000

THAT would be the upgrade.

ever paid?

I'm willing to bet that there are at least 50% of the people inthe 5th gen forum that would disagree with you

Honestly I think the 4th gens were put together a little better. Since I am on my second 5th gen I couldn't downgrade back to a 4th...... .....but I truly feel that the build quality was better on the 4th gens. PLEASE NOTE: this is just MY opinion.....

nissan tried to get me in with the same premise on my '02. it's a scam, i remember being offered $1,000 over NADA value, which ended up being less than blue book.

oh and IMO 5.5Gen>4th gen>5th gen. i've owned 'em all. i wouldn't "downgrade" back to a 5th gen but if i saw a good deal on a 5 speed 4th gen i'd jump on it, as a second vehicle.

On topic, I got a similar letter from Nissan as well. Unfortunately, it didnt encompass 04 Infinitis. The only Nissan badged cars I'd consider trading my 02 Maxima for are the Murano and Alti SE-R.

They don't want your car, they want your $$. Big difference. They probably think if you recently bought a new car, you would be willing to buy another. Regardless of any decpreciation you would have to suffer. They can juice the #s around to make you THINK you are getting a good deal. But there is just no way to get a very good resale $ from the maxima. Either they give you a good deal on a new car and give you nothing for your trade. Or give you a good trade and jack the new car price. Or ream you on financing.

If they wanted that for my 95 I would only ask for the 05 engine in my car.
