I got the new catalog today and I opened up to the sub section. Boy was I surprised to read about the MTX RFL152 15" sub. It handles 4,000 watts peak and weighs 56lbs. At 2,000 watts constant, how the hell would you power this animal? Has anyone heard one of these in person? It is a little pricy at $999 a piece though. Here's a link:

Also, has anyone heard anything good/bad about Cerwin-Vega HED series subs. At $99 a piece for a 12" from Crutchfield, which is not cheap by any means, it is a steal.

Woah

Why would you spend $999.00 on one sub when you could get like 10 MTX 6000s and Im sure it would be louder...hahah.

"In fact, this sub comes ready for total sonic detonation. MTX includes a replacement cone and voice coil assembly in the crate. That way, you're not out of the running if you blow it up at the big show. You can rebuild it on the spot and not skip a beat." -Crutchfield

-Replacement parts...very cool, yet why would MTX advertise the fact that their subs blow? (pun intended)

On a different subject.......

Hey Cincy,

Are they still planning to have the Jazz Festival down there despite the recent events? If so, I might be coming down there.

It's available for a specific need. And that would be the person that want's a single sub or pair to perform only for SPL. It's ideal for someone wanting to compete in dB Drag in Street 1-2 woofer category and put up a high number.

Also they must have alot of money to spare

I suppose, but Im not sure a person competing in a 1-2 sub class at the 1000 and up power level would buy that sub.

To use that sub to its max potentinal you need like a 4 cu ft box which means you need a big ride. In my opinion, seeing a vehicle such as a surburban at a competition with one sub is a cop out. Kinda interesting, but more of a cop out.

One can easily squeeze 4.0 cu ft out of something as small as a Civic when building a wall.... That's the general nature of SPL drag vehicles anyway....

That is very true, I guess I was more referring to a setup that didnt require and massive modification to the vehicle, which would rule out walls.
