How many NA ppl have bypassed AC?

What is your overall opinion once you bypassed your AC? Did you leave the compressor bolted on? Just took the pulley off and got a new belt?
If I wanted to take out the compressor, how long would the frion drain out of the hose?

I removed the compressor, condenser, lines, can shaped thing on the driver side of the compressor, etc. Other than weight reduction, it's really not noticeable. The pulley is free spinning when the A/C isn't on so there's no draw on the engine. It does drop about 30 lbs. from the car though. Mine had a leak and hadn't been charged in 3 yrs so there was no reason for it to be on the car.
For anyone else that has done this, is there also a piece inside the car that can be removed? I thought I heard something about it in a thread but can't remember.

Freon is no longer used in modern AC systems. The stuff that sprays out is not nearly as toxic as the original type. I'm not sure what the current chemical is called though(R-134?).
I noticed a power difference. Despite the compressor having a clutch it does impose drag on the crank at all times. This drag is minimal but it all adds up. I'd say I noticed the engine reving more freely more than the freed power.
The part inside the car that can be removed is called the evaporator. It is behind the glovebox in the evap box. When you pull it out you gotta be sure to put some duct tape over the holes otherwise you'll get a lot of annoying belt/engine noise into the cabin. Its not a good muscular noise. Tape it up or you will regret it. That part weighs at ~6lbs and is good for a few bucks if you can find someone that needs it.
