100 LEDs received, have ? about Wiring it to Sources

yeh, got my 50 5mm blue leds and 50 3mm w/ free resistors for like $17.

i remember tryin to wire up an led to the keyring light and it blew. is it b/c of the diff wattage or something? i also thought about making 3 rows of LED for the glove box since i have so many connected to the 194 bulb. Will this be able to handle it or blow out?

i have many other unique ideas and will have pics very soon.
will start later today.

it would only blow if u didnt conect the proper resistor to it.

But yea, i went crazy with those led's also lol

theres more pics on my cars site

That's awesome. Where are the write-ups for what LEDs/Resistors to use? I wouldn't mind making my interior like that, but maybe a dark green to match the paint. As for the tails, they're called GenII Altezzas. Installed them myself last night, the Gunmetal version looks amazing on my car - and at night = !!!! BEAUTIFUL! First night out and got some necks breakin'.

LED's draw very little power - they will burn out easily if you connect it straight to a 12V source like the 194 bulb socket. If you use the resistors correctly you shouldn't have a problem. I would reccomend running a seperate wire from another 12V source (fusebox is usually the best bet) if you want to run a lot of LED's in a row.

Please don't ever say that again, for my sake and yours. You're not gonna get much love for altezza's around here. And hearing things like that make my brain hurt...
tezza's+no performance mods+lots of pretty leds=

Not unless you use the right resistance or wire 4 LEDS in series...

worked fine and looks beautiful. i have a bunch of other led mods, the 9 led dome ligh that is also connected to my 3 row led door lights and also some others.

car won't start up now. it trys to start but fails. i'm spazzin out and my parents don't know about it yet. i need help...

As long as you don't run massive amounts of LED's you should be fine. Just wire them parralell from the positive wire of the 194 socket (don't run bulb at the same time as the LED's). If you want to keep functionality of the 194 bulb then run a separate wire straight off your fusebox. Either way, use the resistors. If your only intent is to have the LED's turn on with the 194 light bulb, then use a relay inline with the 194 positive wire.

wiring diagram:

done in 2 mins with ms paint so, yes, it ain't pretty. you get the basic idea tho

so the resistor is on ground? or am i misreading? i was looking into doing this but thought the resistor was on the positive side, does that change with multiple leds?

I believe you're technically supposed to put them on ground, but I don't think it matters either way. I've never had any problems either way...

well i put them for pos. i did the glovebox LEDs. 5 rows of LEDs wired parrallel i believe, its been a long time since i took physics. anyways, they work great and will have pics of everything later.

also my driver side window switch LEDs wont work now by its still functional. i kinda pulled up on the green stuff attached to the board but do u think that might of affected it?

You probably just have a bad soldering connection or the LED is burned out or backwards. Just do that switch again and make sure you get the polarity of the LED right

Yes, I did the same thing. I bought a new LED board and soldered the LEDs over again.

Your making me want to put LEDs throughout my whole car. I'm wondering if I could complete such a big task.

What size and mcd rating LEDs did you guys use for your interior pieces such as the air vents, door handles, etc.?

Hey SMX95 - You should do a write up on how you wired all those LEDs up.

well i can tell u this now, it is gonna take you a long time if u wanna go all out like me.
plus you u need to have a bunch of LEDs and resistors cause i blew out a bunch.
5mm are 5000k i think and the 3mm are 7000k. there perfect for me. you have to have patients and a lot of time and knowledge of LEDs. hey where did u get ur board, and how much?

Thanks for the reply. I bought a whole new driver's window switch for $15 shipped here on the .org. I only needed to use the LED Board though. Look in the Forsale Forum for a switch. They are way too expensive on eBay. You can even sell the rest of the switch after you take the LED board out.
