Just get NGK Coppers, better spark and under $2 per plug, and you don't have to pay for shipping b/c any auto part store woill stock them.

For Maxima's, copper's are suggested among this site and other Max enthusiast sites for the most part. Coppers will only last at most 30k mi, whereas the plats go for 60k. But for a better spark and a sixth of the price, coppers are the way I went, and I haven't had any problems yet.

Yah maybe Lou...but the last thing he would want to see is the coil pack boot break or some other coil pack nonsense from pulling the plugs every 15k using coppers. I just used the nissan oem ones they were 8$ a piece from courtesy nissan good for 60k.

my .02 Set it and forget it !

I would think that leaving the coil pack on for that longer duration would INCREASE the chance of it breaking (more time to settle in and get comfy, ya know???)...and if you're careful, coil packs do not break.

i agree with lou, coppers, and change them every 20-30k. i havent had any problems changing them, or coils breaking. if youre careful and know wtf youre doing, you wont have a problem

From what I gather, with the 60,000 mile service you can get by without changing the OEM platinum plugs for some time. How long will the OEM platinum plugs last in a 95 Maxima, mostly highway driven. I have 57,300 miles on my car and its running fine. I question whether the plugs needed to be replaced at 60,000. I know someone with a 1999 Maxima with about 80,000 miles and I'm sure the OEM platinum plugs are stock, ie never been replaced.

Will the Nissan coppers in fact last 30,000 miles without compromising performance?

Ignoring cost considerations, which plug provides better performance: the platinums or the coppers?

Then why does NGK not make gold plugs, it's cheaper than platinum.
