I need to resurface the rotors. How was the experience for you while completing this task at home? How much did you spend in total? Thanks for the replies.

 

Resurfacing the stock rotors? ...from what I've heard they are too thin to resurface.
Don't take my word for it though, I went aftermarket.

On a side note...there is a local mechanic that resurfaces rotors for around $10 each. :-/

 

i took mine to a mechanic and he said that my fronts were too worn down to resurface but the rears were resurface-able. so i replaced the fronts and had the rears resurfaced. costed me an arm and leg to do.

 

What? Unless you have a machine that can mill down rotors, your not doing this at home.
Resurfacing the rotors depends on how worn they are. Rotors can get low enough to the point where they are too thin to resurface. It can run anywhere from $10 each to over $30 each..

But why are you being cheap? NEW cheapo rotors will run you about $30 each.

You must mean the cheap ones from Autozone... they're made from molten pots and pans out in China.. I'd still take those and warp them in a few years than resurface old ones which you dont know if they are OEM or cheap ones and your taking even more area off.

 

Why not buy new ones from ebay or your local autozone. Ebay has the drilled for $100 or autozone for 20+ each.
