suspension questions.

1 has any one done there springs themselves, and how hard was the job.

2 how much did everyone pay to get the struts done.

I did them when I was in a local college automotive program. I had a how to from altimas.net that was perfect instructions. Took about 2 hours. Other people were helping though. You got the H&Rs right? Im ready to see pics of that drop.

A friend of mine was thinking of the same thing yesterday. He has an 04 SL and I have an 04 SE (about to put 20's on mine...smile). He really would like to put 20's on his SL but he was told that he shouldn't put 20's on since 17's came with the car. His whole concern is the whole "you should never go up more than 1 1/2 inches from the original tire size". He's afraid the ride would be horrible. I was thinking it would be better since the SL has a softer ride than the SE. What do you guys think? Will SL ride better with bigger tires or will it even be noticeable since the suspension is softer than the SE. He's checking with other folks that he knows and I said that I would check with the Maxima gods in here.

I place my vote on: he will feel a difference between the 17's and 20's. Maybe not in all conditions (i.e. flat smooth roads) but will feel higway expansion strips, etc...more.

I can answer some of these questions. First of all, Ive got 20in rims with the Eibach springs on an SE. I did install these myself with the help of a friend. On the difficulty scale of 1 to 10 for installation I give it a 4. (10 being the hardest) It was very easy, just take your time with it. About the ride, its not as horrible as everybody thinks. It still rides good, not bouncy or hard, just very firm and still smooth. Youll be surprised. I will of course recommend getting the upgraded shocks/struts.
