I hear this very interesting noise. It's kinda like a whining noise. I only here it first thing in the morning. The rest of the day is normal. Can any of you tell me what this could possibly be?

During engine start? While driving? Turning the wheel? When hitting brakes?

After I start the car up in the morning. As I proceed to put the car into reverse, I apply the brake. During my brake application, that is when I hear that whining noise. I only here it in the morning.

Is your Maxima equipped with Anti-Lock Brakes? Could this sound be the ABS self-test?

Yes my Max has anti lock brakes. I had no idea the abs did a self test. Does the self-test have a faint whine to it? If so, that is what it is. I'm not having any type of braking problems(knocking on wood). So we'll see.

Please refer to your Owner's Manual, in the section headed Anti-Lock Brake System Self-test feature.
