Tokico struts/springs - Front Installed
Tokico struts/springs - Front Installed
Just installed the front struts/springs (Tokico Blue and springs), but rounded off a bolt on the back shock. Any ideas on:
1) Where to get a replacement without going to the dealer?
2) Best way to get the bolt off.
Also - The instructions mentioned cutting the bump stop on the strut boot. I left mine whole (New factory), and it seems to be working fine. What other problems may I run into?
Appreciate all the input on the parts that were needed from everyone. When I took it apart both strut mounts and bearings were still good and unharmed. I replaced the bearings just because, but will be taking the strut mounts back. Really was pretty simple.

are you talking about the nut that secures rear trailing arm to the shock?
or the two nuts that secure shock mount to the frame behind rear seats?
or the nut on the shock shaft?
there is few "creative "ways to take care of rounded off nuts , just need to know which one first
And you should trim your boots when using lowering springs

No, trim the upper part ( the bump stop ) The fronts are removable , just slide them out and cut abut 1inch
if the nut is completly rounded off , take it to the shop and have them weld new nut on top of the old one.
Nick.
Might sound stupid, but if you trim the top part than it won't fit snug into the top of the strut plate. Factory strut boots and the way the top is made it fits very nice into the top of the plate.
