I was trying to figure out why the driver door light stayed on after all doors were closed. I measured the voltage and with the door open it read 4.2v and with door closed it read 12.0v!
All wires behind the door are ok and nothing seems to be shorted. So i re-assamble the door completing all connections, and the car alarms starts going off! I ended up disconnecting the battery. Everytime I reconnect it, the alarm goes off and stays on no matter what.
I've checked all fuses and relays and they seem to be ok! What is the problem? I have work in the morning and need a quick fix.

 

It's supposed to do that. I think you're talking about the factory alarm. Next time you hook the battery up, and the horn starts honking, go and open the trunk with the key.

It should stop.

If it's an aftermarket alarm, just press the disarm button.

 

why would the factory alarm go off when it is disarmed? and when I'm working on something with the key in the ON position (car off)?

Anywayz, I tried doing that and the alarm still goes off. I'll re-check the fuses, in the mean time any other suggestions?

I believe you should use your key and unlock the driver's door and that should shut off the factory alarm, that lock has a wire that disarms the system. Mine started acting crazy and I figured out that since my doors are dynamatted it was preventing the inner door lock from opening all the way(car would not start either), and the door being locked from the driver's side helps engage the system. Another thing is even when I pulled the fuses to disengage the system it stops the horn but the car still would not start because of the position of the inner door lock. So just check all that. Good luck.

 

well I reconnected the battery this morning, and the problem is gone! This was definetly the first problem I came across on my max, aside from regular maintnence. Thanks for the help.
