Is there any difference btw the oem and aftermaket? I'm planning to change it with an aftermarket 300z fuel filter from autozone. Any comments?

 

I highly recommend Wix filters. You can find them @ O'Reilly's Auto Parts, but if you don't have O'Reilly's you can also find them @ Napa - they are sold under the Napa Gold label. FWIW, Wix makes the Napa Gold series filters.

 

What's the advantage of having this filter?

 

Big difference - don't spare the few bucks, go to the dealer and get the OEM. One time there was a web site where someone had split open two filters, OEM and another one to show the difference and I was surprised - the OEM had a better valve to keep the oil up and many other important parts that were simply made better. As you probably know the oil after 3000 miles is fine but the filter is almost more important to filter the junk.

 

That was motorvate.com and it was for the oil filter, but still the OEM fuel filter is better than aftermarket. Just go to the dealer

 

hmm, the filter you mention is the oil filter, not the gas filter. The website did a comparison on the oem oil filter to an aftermarket. Here's the link:
