So the Max has been coming together for awhile now. The tint, the 18" gunmetal rims, Trenz grill, etc. Everything looked great, but I really thought that dropping it would be everything together. Damn, was I right. Not that I reinvented the wheel or anything, but the car looks so much better. Everything just looks like it fits together, instead of being separate good-looking parts. And the handling is incredible... it's just so smooth and tight in any turn.

Alright, just had to share my excitement with y'all.

Pics? And why did you go with the coilovers instead of struts and springs?

1. Better drop.
2. More durability.

Well, the best drop you can get with any strut/spring combo is 2.2" front and 1.8" rear is with the Tein S-Techs or the Progress springs, which give 2" all around. With the Tein Coilovers, you can get 3.6" front and 2.9" rear. There are a number of people on the .org who have the S-Techs and aren't satisfied with the drop. I just figured I'd cut to the chase and go with something that would allow me to have the biggest drop, rather than getting a drop that I ultimately wasn't satisfied with and then deciding that I wanted to go lower and have to buy all new stuff.

As far as durability is concerned, I've gathered, from reading through numerous posts on the .org, that there are some concerns with an S-Tech/Illumina set-up in terms of potentially blowing the shocks. This is supposed to be less of a problem with the coilover set-up. Given that I live in Rochester, NY--replete with big-a$$ potholes, it seems that a more durable set-up is the way to go.

I'd say at least that, maybe pushing 3". I forgot to measure the exact gap before with a ruler, I can just tell you that it was more than 4 fingers (I could almost fit my whole hand in there) and now I can barely fit my index finger in... it went from a **** star to a virgin if you know what I mean.

Edit: Also, thanks for all the positive feedback from everyone.

Great question, unfortunately I can't help you. I only know how the coilovers ride at the setting they're currently at and I don't have any experience with them at other settings. Maybe someone else on here can help you?

Once I had my 18s put on, the ride got pretty rough on the stock suspension. However, since I've had the coilovers in, the ride, I think, is actually better. It's still a harsher, "sportier" feel than stock. However, instead of just being rough, it's very tight, so when I go over a bump, it doesn't feel like the whole car is wobbling, which it did before.

Just for clarification purposes:
Stock suspension: Softer ride. Handing seems loose and wobbly (not technical terms I know, but the best way I can describe it).
Stock suspension+18s: Harsher, sportier ride. Still loose wobbly feel, which is especially annoying over bumps and such.
Teins+18s: Harsher, sportier ride but seems better than stock suspension because it tightens up the ride remarkably around turns or even over bumps.

I hope this helps.

Any wheel rubbing especially with the 18s on sharp turns or in a parking lot?

If you were to put a Stillen kit with that kind of a drop, do you expect to be a snowplow in the winter and a speed-bump scraper in the summer or would you still be okay?

Lastly, do the Tein Basics adjust at all or is it just the one drop height?

No wheel rubbing that I've noticed. I am a little concerned about putting a body kit on, because there's not a whole hell of a lot of clearance as it is right now and I really don't want to be a snowplow up here with our winters. I definitely go more slowly than I used to over speed bumps and up inclines. It's not a super big deal, just something you must be more cogniant of.
