Sunroof Tinted
Sunroof Tinted
I got my sunroof tinted on my 98 Black maxima yesterday, 5% tint, looks awesome inside and especially outside.
ps. I asked my tinter if he has ever heard of a sunroof cracking because of heat, sun ect. he looked at me stupid and said hes been tinting windows for 25 yrs and has never heard of that before. Also he said he tints maxima sunroof's a lot and said, "It makes you wonder why nissan didnt tint their sunroofs, kinda stupid if you ask me."
so thats enough for me, it was $30 but he did it for me for $20 for being a previous customer, but i gave him 30 anyway.
so for all of you with tinted windows and that ugly clear sunroof i recommend you go out and do it

I'd like to see what kind of difference it makes.... I can't stand having sunlight beat down on my head, so I always have my sunroof covered during the day. Thus, I can't even really use it for ventilation.
Besides, I'm about to get my windows tinted, and was considering this as well... it would be nice to see it.
I guess my feelings don't go across the board. It's not completely worthless without pics, I suppose....

I got my sunroof mirror tinted. Blocks almost all the heat that cooks your head BUT still allows a nice amount of light into the car. Also, no one can look down into your car.
Mirror tint I think is the best way to go.

you might say it was expensive but i was extremely happy on craftsmanship so i kinda didnt mind
I think mirror tints looks better on most cars unless you have a black exterior. Then dark tint is the way to go. I don't think mirror tint has any effect when you're looking from inside out but I may be wrong.

Each state has different rules. Wisconsin for example allows 35% on the rears but no more than 55% up front.
I don't really get why you guys are getting the sunroof so dark. The sunroof is the way to get you out of trouble. If cops are picky with your car, but they usually aren't with Maxes, opening the sunshade will greatly increase the light coming in the car. This will make the tint look significantly lighter and could save you a fix-it ticket. I do this whenever I see a cop. But most of the time I have my windows down. The only time I have the windows up is when its raining and then the windows look really dark so its more important. But I still have I have 15% on the sunroof. It looks funky with the border. But 5% is just gonna make it all look dark as hel! at all times. That can get you screwed over.

i just got done tinting my sunroof yesterday then i saw this thread...weird....the only reason i did mine was because that plastic piece that covers my sunroof broke so i took some tin snips to it and ripped it out. Anyways i put 2.5% tint on it and i think i might put another layer on. It's really not that hard to do. just take out your sunroof and take your time. The only think i fuked up was when i was putting it back in i overtightened one of the sunroof bolts and the bolt broke in half. WTF. i was so pissed. so now the left side of my sunroof sits a little lower. oh well. btw 2.5% is the way to go. nothing lighter...on the sunroof that is.
btw the percentage is the amount of light that shines through. so 2.5% of light shines through my sunroof and 97.5% is blocked

I got my sunroof tinted last month for $30 with 20% tints.. Looks great and i'm glad I got it since I live in a hot area. Thats crazy why people believe the sunroof will CRACK. That MYth is dumb because the number on the glass on the sunroof has the same # as the rear back windows (the tiny windows) . By that locic you should get them tinted either.. I doubt there any chace mine will crack.. Thats why many places down here wouldn't do it or wanted to much...

I understand what you mean, but you have illegal tint, I have 35 all the way around so it doesnt make a difference to me. But does to you. Although if i can take my tint off cleanly this summer i'll go darker. If i cant i think i might just tint the windsheild 35 also so all windows from outside look exact. The only thing about the sticker. But then again i've been driving with just plain glass (no sticker) for a half a year, no problems

My seats have had leather protection applied since day 1, at least once a year. I also drive with the shade pulled back to let in the light and my seats look like new. If its bright out I tend to open the sunroof. On a priority of 1 to 10, tinting my sunroof would come in about 12. I thought I was the most **** .orger but it appears not, lol!
What I wonder is: Are the same orgers who chintz out on tires some of the ones who spend money on things like tinted sunroofs? If so, it doesn't make any sense to me.

I took my sunroof out because i've never tinted anything before and it made it 10 times easier than doing everything upside down. It takes like a minute to take a sunroof out and it's not that hard to put it back in exactly like it was. Not just the glass comes out all the weatherstripping comes too. All you have to do is line it all up and bolt it up.

I did my sunroof myself, though. I had some tint from a piece of glass i tinted in my house, so I saved myself $30. It was about $220 for fronts/backs/rear. Would have been $250 if he did the sunroof, too, but it's just a big rectangle so it was easy.
