Traction Control for a 99 max-- Help??

Well I saw someone had a switch for sale. I know behind my gauge cluster next to my dimmer switch I have a taped up blue connector that must be for the TCS. Anyways I have a 99 SE and mine didn't come stock with traction control but the wires are there and everything. Since it is the weekend and I cannot contact Nissan my question is if I simply buy the switch and plug it into the connector will I have traction control or do more steps need to be taken?

I can get a pic of the switch....thanks in advance for any help.

Why would nissan have the connector right in the dash with wires running through the firewall??

(I'm going to play along and pretend this was a serious question...)

The cars have a common wiring harness, with all the wires already in place because it would be MUCH more costly to design, build, track and install a specific wiring harness versus having a few unised wires.

The traction control system consists of sensors, computers etc (and probably interfaces with the ABS system to share the wheel speed sensors, I'm not sure) and all of THAT stuff will not be installed in your car. The switch you see is just a traction control defeat switch.

I'm not so sure it as simple as a switch. In your tach fo you have a light for TCS. I think there's alot more to do with adding traction control than a switch. As for a pic of the switch check out my cardomain I have pic's of my dash and I have a 99 with traction.

If you look closely at ECU's, you will note that an entirely different ECU is required for TCS as well. ABS sensors, etc are REQUIRED, as said earlier to detect wheel slip.

It's definitely worthwhile having if you drive in a lot of snow! It saved me from getting stuck a few times this winter!!!
