how to change rear side marker light?

guys, I noticed the other day that my passenger side rear side marker light is out. I pulled the trunk lining away and see that there is a large rubber grommet/plug with the wires going through it for the lamp. I've tried to twist and get it to come lose with no luck. Does the entire lamp assembly have to come out to get to this one bulb?

that rubber grommet will just pull out - a flathead screwdriver might help get it out
then you'll see a plastic bulb holder that just twists out

it could be just the bulbs.

thanks guys.. found out it was maybe easier to remove the taillight assembly and then replace the bulb that way.. the grommet is just to keep moisture out of the trunk.

I dont think it will be easier removing the whole tail light, just pull on the rubber thing and it will come out and then the bulb will be super easy to pull out from there, it will take you less than two minutes if you just take the rubber thing off. It will take you a long time if you take the tail light off, and that is still provided you can take the bulb off and put a new one on from the outside. But good luck either way.

actually the tail lamp unit removal is cake. Remove the two nuts from the studs inside the trunk and then entire unit will pry out. I pulled mine out a few inches on the right side and getting to the bulb/socket was very easy. I suspect the body grommet might be a real pain to get back in properly. Thanks everyone

actually the grommet is really easy to work with. I had to change that bulb for VA inspection and did it in 1 minute total in the parking lot

I was looking at my trunk a few nights ago and was curious what was under the rubber piece so i took it off. It wasnt hard to get back in at all.
