:( have to sell car-autotrader or cars.com?

well as some of you may know i have to sell my max . long story short, my insurance co desided to do a check on my record for the first time in a long time and found a few speeding tickets when i say a few i mean 3 over the course of 3 1/2 years but for some reason my insurance never went up... until now, i got the reevaluated bill and it reads...$289 a month!!!!!!!!! of course its just my luck that i have a large chunk left to pay on my loan and the bank i have the loan from requires full coverage insurance or they will take it away. i was soooo pissed off but not to mad cause i figured ok, now i just need to find a cheaper place that i can still get full coverage. so my hunt was on and out of the 5 insurance co's in the book 2 said i couldnt get a quote over the phone because of my bad record the rest had quotes that said "at least" $245 a month, thats way over what i can afford right now having a 7 month old baby, a fieance, car payment, rent for a 2 bedroom apt, cell phone, internet, cable, phone, ect. by that time i was pissed enough that i was stomping my feet down the stairs and in a rage i picked up ice outside and threw it as hard as i could against the ground then looked at my max thinking ive came so far to have it go back on me now. now that ive typed all that nonsense on with my question, should i advertise on cars.com or autotrader.com? in the past ive sold 2 cars on autotrader and one on cars.com but everyone keeps saying cars.com is better??? if everyone can remember when they were looking for a maxima if they first went to cars or autotrader? personally i go to autotrader but sense theve changed there site around and now want to charge $50 for a run it til it sells im not really so sure. I do want to put a single picture in the ad and have unlimited typing space. obviously i already posted my ad on here also. any input on the quickest easiest way to sell my car. sense i still have my 95 and 95 contour were still good for cars cept the fact that the 95 max is not really in running condition cause i have been painting it in various pieces at a time and the whole interior is ripped out for customization. that one doesnt run to good though. i was thinking after i sell my car for what i may get for it i should have about $1500 over what i owe on my loan and i cant get another loan with that high of insurance rate so its not like i can go in for a 5 spd 95 or somthing sense ill only have about 2K to spend on a darn car not too much i can get for that, dont suggest 3rd gen either cause i dont want to drive a square lol sorry to the 3rd lovers. only other thing i had in mind was auction cars, i found a 96 white 5sp max with 200K on it for $2300 but thats still a little much. found a 92 honda civic hatch dx that has mismatched paint for $700 i was thinking of just getting that and droping in the B16(si) or B18(gsr) or even the option i like, a turboed D16(ex) motor. i honestly think it would be fun to drive somthing like that around the streets. To the track and regular use i would still use the 95 max after its all up and running. but i want a project car like my max was to me. any opinions are great and mostly about the main question of cars.com vs autotrader because i could car less if people think im gay or somthing cause i would consider buying a civic hatch -Ryan

that really sucks your arent able to keep the max. i guess you wont be needing the VB anymore. (im sure the second guy in line for it will be happy now haha). anyway, to your question, id say hands down autotrader. me and my brother have both sold our past cars on autotrader within a week of posting it up. lots of people are on autotrader so thats probably your best bet. come to think of it, i found my max on autotrader.

anyway, hope everything works out for you. good luck finding another car.

I've never put my two cars against each other, but they seem to be comparable as far as speed capabilities. Both of mine are autos.

I think I remember everyone telling to save your maney instead of modding your car. You probably would have had a few months to keep the car until you found a way to make more money.

I'd recommend that you do what it takes to keep the kid fed and clothed. Damn the Maxima and modding for a while.

i dont think theres really a problem there, all my money goes to my daughter and us as it should. i have been trying to save last thing i bought was the HID's and that was a random buy just because i was sick of my headlights and i had a problem with my drivers side shorting out so i just replaced the harness and decided to upgrade at the same time took care of the problem nicley. well i figure i will have the contour to drive around until i save enough to get a new car whatever that may be. ill have about 2K after the car sale and my loan is paid off and everything, obviously thats a crap car for that price so... im gonn have to save for a while and sense i wont have a car payment ill have about $750 a month to save so that should add up pretty quick to get me a decent car by july, august. now lets just hope that the trashy contour lasts that long...

One 4 letter word for you my friend..Move, get out of the northeast, insurance up there is ridiculous. $275 a month is basically a car payment. Maybe you can park the max in a garage or something and get a beater with liability insurance. That sucks to have to give up the max.

I recall joosdawg talking about how he was giving himself struts for christmas I believe and his parents didn't think it was good idea or something like that. Everyone was telling him to save up. Joos - youre still young according to your profile and there's a good amount of people that don't even have a car at your age. I acquired my first car when I was 19 which was 2nd gen 626 5 speed from my mom and moved to maxima world last summer after an accident.

I know its late now but I used autotrader to find mine simply because of the transmission filter. I can't drive autos.
