Dumb question here about burnouts..

well i just got 2 new front tires but i didnt put them on yet i will though in the next couple days but that got me wondering, can i do a standing burn out in an Auto? yeah probably one of the dumbest questions i asked here on the org but i was wondering if it was possible i know when you go from N to D while reving it does a slight burnout but is it possible to do a standing one?

thanks for supporting my Dumb question though

1. go to an EMPTY parking lot
2. put some kind of strong plastic under ur rear tires
3. pull handbrake
4. put in D
5. floor it and see what happens

this is much more fun than just a burnout, although i dont think it'll burn off ur front tires.

oh yeah, get a video

Put it on N rev to about 6500 with e-brake on and slap it into D. Tell us what happens. Get a video of this.

for a stand still, just put in neutral pull hand break, rev and drop in D you'll probably move some but should come to a stop and be burning out in one spot.

or just pull hand break, and drop in 1st and start to gas it the car should try to move but give more gas and you should break the front free.

A wet surface for the front wheels will make this tast much easier.

Good luck

All you do is go into Taco Bell with a friend order seperatley and walk out with the two trays they give you, then proceed to put them under the rear wheels of your car or not. Honestly though you can easily get some nice Taco Bell trays that way and use them for all sorts of fun stuff!

Get on an empty highway and while you're going highways speeds, slam it into reverse and floor it. You'll light up both of the front tires for a couple of football field lengths. Nice and smokey.

I would do a burnout, but only in a 5-spd. Nothing like it.

hold the brake firm while giving gas, when the car starts to struggle lift off the brake and slam the throttle. To do this while still have the ebrake on. And yeah, I wouldn't do it in a car that is your only mode of trans.

The dumb question was asking if you could rev it in nuetral and throw it in drive.Your trans will love you after it gets a new life from the rebuild you will need. But my auto will burn the tires from a stand still. I also am running 13 pound rims which helps alot.I don't think a stock auto maxima will do it on dry pavement.

sorry to say, but neutral drops on a stock max won't result in true burnout. you'll get a quick traction break if you're lucky, but you won't be standing still with wheels spinning, that's for sure.

thank a road trip from MD to FL with a rental 99 Max for this experiment. we also yanked the e-brake doing 50 coming off the highway. excellent way to eff up some totally decent tires. by the time we got back to MD the auto tranny was having serious troubles shifting into and out of second.

oh well, not my car.

You think an auto tranny will last for 600 feet doing that? I'm not real sure it'll last that far...

That's a perfectly good example of someone with no consideration, and that should not be driving any car. I hope someone steals your car and runs it straight into a river (I hope you have no insurance, too). Moron.

tranz....I did that to my old tires. I did what M deezy suggested. I got a samll vid of it too........real easy to do. I pulled the e-brake, put some black magic tire shine on the threads, put the car in 1. Gave it a little gas, and then when I saw the car wasn't moving i gave it more. If you like we can send your tires away in a smoking rage. Just let me know. As for everyone else flaming him, let him do what he wants to his car. If anyhting breaks it's his problem. Many things we do to our cars are bad, wear and tear will happen over time. This will not kill his tranny unless he does it everyday, and for very long periods of time. I did mine for less than 10 seconds........
