do you drive slower now?

i posted this under gas prices, but wanted get more responses,
im starting to noticed that the crusing speed in the freeway has been real slow. people are actaully doing the speed limit. my state limit is 65, and im crusing 75 and im the fastest one!! most of them are doing between 65-70. some barely go 80+ nowadays. i remember year ago people were crusing 70-80. does the gas price affect the way you drive? i wann know if this is going on in other states.

Nope. I still like getting places on time, and time = money. An extra $2 a fullup isnt going to make me drive any slower. This really isnt a big deal, if you do the math, its nothing.

I've noticed people doing 60 in a 65.. IN THE FAST LANE. Don't even ask how fast people travel in the right lane. I have to leave for work at least 10 minutes earlier now due to people traveling slowly. I feel as though i'm the only person on the road lately doing at least 70.

Honestly I don't get why people make such a big deal about it. Going 10 mph slower will not improve your mpg enough to make much of a difference. No point of buying a maxima to drive it like a 4 cylinder economy car

After noticing how much fuel I am saving by driving 65 mph instead of 85 mph, I am definitely driving slower on the highway.

Not only do I not drive slower, I still go out on the weekends for spirited driving, with lots of redline shifts. I'd rather get the full benefit of my cars and spend less in another department.

Screw gas prices, every once in a while, i jsut have to punch it and feel the pull of the VQ. Driving a little faster will only save a dollar or two anyways and it would take a long long run to actualyl see savings.

I was driving a little slower than normal this winter to compensate for the worse mileage you get with winter gas and colder weather. Lately I've pulled back from normal highway speeds to drive the speed limit rather than 10% or so over. I've just been leaving a little earlier than I otherwise would.

Oooooh... I just noticed gas went from 2.09 (reg) yesterday to 2.35 (reg) today. I dont even wanna know what premium is at today.

Still isnt going to keep me slower on the highway, I just wont hit WOT as much. Thats what really drains the tank.

i guess you guys dont drive slow, should of figured, you drive maximas!! it just felt weired for me, when everyone else is driving slow, i was like WTF? these people are driving slow because of gas? i did hear that the price will be even higer during the summer. i really havent changed my driving style, i do step on it just to hear the damn intake sometimes, so i feel that its not a worthless mod.

That's very weird that you are in central Jersey and you perceive that traffic is going slower. I don't see that at all, what time of the day are you driving? Are you sure it's not congestion?

Anyway, a good way to look at it is that motorists should drive even faster, now more than ever. You want to use up as much fuel as possible, so you can get to the station faster and fill-up before the prices go up.

nah i go to work at noon and get off around 5:30, not congested at all. i get on the parkway, and since theres mass amount of SUVs and minivans, they drive slow as hell. and other cars including maximas. i feel weired going fast, like 75mph. since ive seen people go faster than 80 short while ago.

I try to limit my "jackrabbit" starts. Cruising at high speeds isn't an issue for me because the highest speedlimit within a days drive (in Canada anyway) is about 55 mph. For some reason even though I am in the middle of nowhere, our speed limits are soooo slow! The highway I live on is only about 45-50 mph. It sucks but I guess it saves money. Coming down to the U.S. is fun because it feels so weird to be able to drive 75!

Yes, I drive more conservatively but it's not due to gas prices. The change in behavior is due more to mods and my desire to keep my car safe after the amount of work and money I've put into it.

I have not modified my driving habits yet due to high gas prices. I have been driving slower since last April when I got my first speeding ticket. I didn't want to get another ticket within a 12 month period.

I try to stay within the posted speed limits now, as the Maxima does actually get better mpg that way. Besides, I'm at an age where I no longer have prove anything to anyone.

I remember paying $2.06 for gas during the fall, now we are looking at $2.56 (and in the city of Chicago, I've seen $2.70 a gallon). Anyway, I fill up every 5 days, so 6x a month at ~ $40 compared to ~ $32, well that's call it $50. If you are paying just $2 a difference when filling up now, well I'm definitely jealous of you.

Well im going by what I average. I dont let my gas get very low, so my fillups are usually 13 or 14 gallons. So with the recent $0.20 hike, thats roughly $2.60 of a difference at the pump for me when I fillup. I dont pay attention to the amount over time. $2 wont make a big difference in my mind.

I like to let her run on fumes, sort of like how she'll be running when we make our way up to GLD on Saturday.

I still drive the same in my Max. I do take it easy in the truck though. There is a huge difference in 15.5mpg and 9mpg. That 5.4L 300hp beast likes gas alot. I will admit it is very hard to not do a standing burnout in it though.

15.5 mpg is simply pathetic under any driving conditions. The least I have ever had in stop and go city driving is 19 mpg.

If I get 17 mpg in mixed driving I'm fairly enthused by it actually.

I live in Cali and I'm looking at 2.89 for premium. Start saving money for gas now cause in summer I hear it will rise to 3.5+

i have to fill up cars all day for work and ive watched it go up 45 cents in the past 2 weeks, im not excited about this at all. The worst is going to be the Lake Powell trips our boat holds 100 gallons and its usually a full dollar more down there. think $350 just to fill it up, and we can burn through that in half a day easy

I try not to make trips unless absolutely necessary. Right now I only live 2 miles from work so it's not so bad, not good for the max with short trips and lack of battery charging time but it's easier on the wallet gas wise. My company is moving to another location about 15 miles away, I'm considering moving closer to work then too. Think of it this way, most of us (that do work) are at work more than you are at home(sleeping hours don't count). You might as well move closer to work.
