Parts for Sale...

Since I'm having to get rid of my Max, I may be selling off some of my parts I have... This list is not promised to be accurate, but to give an idea...

Combo-Switch assembly for the column - headlight, etc...brand new, about 9 months of use...would recommend upgrading the headlight wiring harnesses when doing this, though, as they tend to burn out after a while - I know...went thru 2 used one's before buying this new one...

Driver's side power window motor and regulator...used...

Not sure if there's more right now, nor am I sure if I still have the switch assembly...but this is mainly to gauge interest...if no one's interested, I'll let them go with the car, when it's sold off...

If there's enough serious interest, I may consider parting out SOME of the car...like I'd be willing to sell the almost new, low milage distributor...

As it's a wagon, if anyone needs anything wagon specific, let me know ASAP...I may be willing to pull those too.

I'm figuring I'll only get about $300 for the entire car, as it sits, since it needs work, and cannot be driven anywhere...from a local wrecking yard...

If there's anyone close enough who'd be interested in buying it, I'd sell it asa parts car...

the car has a decent used tranny freshly installed in it, the new switch, an SE steering wheel, al 4 struts replaced not too long ago - needs one front strut mount, new bushings up front, a new rack & pinion, a rebuilt PS pump, rebuilt brake calipers, almost new rotors up front, good seats, all the glass is good, but could use to be polished...no rust - the chassis is solid...the headlights could use replacing...

Let me know ASAP...need to get rid of it, soon!

If you part out, and your headlights are in good shape (i.e. not leaking, and have the reflective stuff left) then I am interested in those. Just let me know if you part it. Thanks.

Well, to gauge further interest...

If I part this baby out, I will sell the rack & pinion, the alternator, electrical switches - that work, interior pieces, etc...

For anyone who may be interested, I may be willing to sell the wheels and tires...they are the stock, 87 style alloys, with an almost new (about 1000 miles total) set of Falken Ziex ZE512 tires. I paid $300 even for the tires, mouonted and balanced...I would LOVE to keep them for the new car, but if I can't, I can't...i need some 5-lug 15" wheels for them to fit it...ARGH!

So far, I have one place trying to locate a buyer for me...

If that falls through, I have an offer of $200 - $250 for it...that's it...! The tires, rack, column switches together are worth more than that, being new...

Does anyone have a eBay sellers account they'd be willing to offer services for auctioning it off for me? I really need to get rid of it...if it doesn't sell soon, the city will impound it, so i'll still lose it, but won't get any money for it, at all...

I have one, however we'll have to talk about it. So if you need to use it, shoot me an email. I'll PM you it. If you do part it out let me know as I'm interested in the distributor and rack.

Well, Maxwgn if you do part it out Im interested in the Power steering pump if thats any good. Do you have a trunk switch in the Wagons? If you do and it is the same as the sedans I would like to get that also. Oh and your SE Steering wheel too. I have a list here I am sorry. The splash gaurds in the wheel wells and underneath the car as well I would like to have. Im looking into your transmission as well. The good thing about this is I live in Texas. BTW, this is all if you are willing to part it out. Itd be a drive coming from Ft. Hood/ Killeen, but Id actually be willing to do a pick up instead of shipping. I might even want to buy the car from you Maxwgn. Im trying to talk to my mom about where it would go at her house and if she'll let me keep it there until Im done with the things I want from it.

well, anything done will have to be quick...my wife wants the car GONE...like yesterday...before the city tows it off...

As for the splash sheilds, Q, mine have never been there as long as I've had the car...

The PS pump is freshly rebuilt...the rack is new, all the PS hoses are new...

If I can find a good set of 5-lug 15" wheels, I'd like to keep the tires, though...

If you can work something out with your mom, Q, let me know ASAP...can be reached at maxwgn@gmail.com

I would much rather sell the entire car...

BTW, as for the column switches, I found my old one that I kept as a spare, and if I sell car locally, I'll swap them both back out again, and would be willing to sell the new unit...I paid $125 for it, and would be willing to take $75, OBO...

Yes, the wagon has the same trunk release switch - it's used to unlock the rear hatch, but it is the same switch...not sure if this one still works, though...

Q, if you're still interested in the entire car, I'm trying to get $750 for it...since it does still run, etc...just needs the exhaust mani studs...

PM or Email me if you're still interested, and I'll get you some more info...

My wife wants to consider this local buyer first, though, since they can get it out of our driveway sooner...

Just let me know...

Sounds like a better deal than what wouldve happened to it if I got it. Many parts wouldve been on the car and other peoples cars. So, its all good. Thanks though.

Q, you need a trunk pop switch? There is a local yard I may go to tomorrow I can check to see if they have it...if they do I will pull it for you. Also where did you get your new headlights? I really need some. Let me know on both things the trunk pop and the headlights.

Whats up maxwgn. Is your car still there? If so I could possibly talk to my gf's parents about maybe helping me get it. I got a good idea about getting it for my gf because she has this old mercury topaz that just sucks! Her stepdad is a mechanic and I wonder if he could do the manifold studs for nothing at all for me. Then my gf would have a better car. Do you have any pics of it? What does the interior look like? I dont know if she would be down for a station wagon but it would be a hellofa lot better than that thing she is driving now. Let me check. My next part is getting it down here if he is down for getting it fixed. If my gf doesnt want it then maybe her sister could get it because she has a crappy car too. Let me see what I can do.

OK, I've had a couple of possible bites @ $300, and am waiting to hear back from them ,but I do still have it...

The car is, and was, origianlly silver...it is not the original paint, though...it was given a $100 paint job BEFORE I bought it...and I never had the money to have it resprayed...

there is a small dent on the hood, where I wife got pissed and frustrated with it, when we were doing the rack & pinion, and threw a caulking gun at it...and there is a SMALL spot of rust (about the size of the nail on your pinky finger), under the rear hatch glass...

Other than that, the body is very straight...the interior is all intact, but could use a good cleaning...it's is the grey cloth interior...a couple of minor stains on the front seats, and one button broken off onm the driver seat back...no rips or tears...ANYWHERE...my daughter did kick the trimpanel on the back of the driver seat loose - the bottom section with the map pocket...she pulled it out of the trim that runs midline across the middle of the seat back...can be stretched back into place, and reattached pretty easily...

the sun roof was siliconed into place, as the glass panel was from a sedan, and we didn['t know it didn't match til we had bought it, and installed it...and it's been a PITA to source a wagon panel for cheap...

There is a BIG oil stain in the back, cargo area of the wagon, that has destroyed a good portion of the nap of the carper over the years...but it could be EASILY replaced...it's just one big piece, and there generic auto carpet you can buy ate Walmart matches it very weel, color wise...

Then, there are a couple of minor misc. interior trim parts, like the belt anchor covers for the rear belts, and the covers for the mounts for the grab straps on the roof. that kind of thing....

Like I've said, it's rolling on virtually new rubber - Falken Ziex ZE-512's, all around, the new rack & pinion, rebuilt pump, new PS hoses, recent struts (Gabriel, unfortunate;ly, could not source anything else when I needed to buy them), that recent tranny, new ball joints and tie rod ends, rebuilt calipers, new front rotors, recent carbon metal pads on front...

Needs the head studs, the control box for the driver's side window, a front strut mount, ONE of the sway bar bushings was damaged when the tranny was tore up, and not replaced yet...

and it could use a tune up, and is due for a t-belt...but still runs real strong, and will pull witht he best of them...the typical valve tick...and it needs an oil pressure sender...

All the parts are with the car to reinstall the manilfold - including gaskets, if you're able to get it done without pulling the head, or the engine...

The exhaust was the only thing preventing it from passing inspection...but we don't have a smog check, here, either...

It was running a little rich, and could've used a good tune - the plugs, cap & rotor were all recent, and even checked, cleaned, and regapped before the inspection...

The driver side seat belt motor is out, but the belt is locked in the BUCKLED position, so it's legal, just a pain to always use the emergency release for it...

and the windshield now has a crack running the entire width - this occurred while getting the tranny replaced.

Well, maxwgn it is an official not going to be able to do. Mom said for sure wont allow me to let it sit in her yard, and neither my gf nor her sister want it. Sorry man, good luck on it.

No one wants to tackle this project..she'd make someone a good work car, if nothing else, for $300 and about a weekends worth of work, if you have all the tools needed...

or a good parts car...lots of new parts on her already...

she could save someone WAY more than $300 in parts alone, if they'd be willing to buy her...she needs a new home...

The junkies only want to pay $35-$50 for her, as scrap metal...none of our yards are taking cars older than 93, unless they are high demand, collectable types...

other than a couple of busted studs, this car is in decent - not great, but decent - shape...body's straight, interior is 99% clean and complete...etc...

Looks like we may end up having to simply call one of those "donate your car" places, and have them haul the thing off...NOT what I wanted for her...she deserves more than to be crushed...

it's sad...there's $300 worth of BRAND NEW *&^&*^%(*& ing tires on the car, not to mention the close to $1200 worth of other new, or recent parts in it, and most people want to try and talk me down from $300...

At $300, we're taking a tremendous loss...it's rediculous...

Well, we're gonna try an ad in the paper for about a week, or so - then she's going to a donation place...I am not parting her out, as I do NOT have the time, tools, or space to do this...

Now, IF I COULD JUST GET SOME WHEELS for the Mazda, to use those new tires, it wouldn't be so damn bad...

Man, I dont want to see it end up as junk. There are too many good things on that car besides it still be able to run. Wish I couldve helped man. Ive asked my mom again and for now she's not budging. Maybe I could give her a time line of how long the car would be there before it would have to go. I would really like to use this car myself. We'll see man. Its worth a try again. The worst she can say is no, again.

true...I really need to move it...and it'd be great if it went to another max owner...even if it's parted, she'll live on...junked, she'd prolly end up as scrap metal somewhere...

If she'll say yes, I'd even work a partial trade with ya, if you could find some decent 15" wheels down there that would fit my Mazda, so I could keep the Falkens - if you're parting her out, that is...

14"

They need to be 15", 5x114.3 stud spacing, and approx a 40mm offset, give or take...basically, a 3rd gen OEM wheel would fit great...MIGHT have to have the center bore machined out just a little bit...

To fit the 195/60R15 Falkens I have to put on them...

The tires on the Mazda now SUCK hard...they are Michilins, but they are NOT good tires...they have NO grip what-so-ever...

With the pitiful 4-banger under the hood, churning a MASSIVE 120HP, I turn ON the AC (effectively dropping BHP to about 90 +/-), and I can STILL bark the tires...and I'm NOT driving hard, or trying to...

I need to get those grippy Falkens on there...

Oh, and man, how I missed driving a 5-speed...it was NOT a requirement for buying the car, but it sure has made it a 1000 x's more fun to drive this way...

Well, at a local junkyard I got a 4th 2nd gen maxima wheel for 30 bucks so I could have a full spare to use. So, If I could talk to a local junk yard about the wheels off a 3rd gen four for 30 each, if they charge that much, would be 120. Have you tried any local junk yards near you to see.

yeah, they charge $50 / wheel, flat charge...

On eBay, there are a couple of complete sets of wheels for as little as $60 a set - SHIPPED...God, I wish I had money...

I talked to my mom and she is going to give me 30 days to have the car in front of her house. So, once I get it Its going to be a time to get it done now kinda thing. But I did enough bargaining to get her to 30 days. I feel like the city just put a time limit on me for this.
