Do you have aftermarket indiglo gauges? If you do, then your needles are sticking. You have to put double sided tape on the back of them to make them flat. Same thing is happening to my fuel gauge, my light comes on when the needle is on the last line before "E".

does your gauge fluctuate a lot, like during cornering or braking?

I don't have aftermarket parts on my guages. My guages don't fluctuate much at all. The other day the guage was a little below quarter tank and my fuel light came on!?!?!? A week before that i was at a quarter tank and decided to fill up. I put about 4 gallons in and it overflowed. Then my guage only raised about half way.

Thanks,
Josh

If your sending unit was never replaced under warranty, that could be the problem. I had 3 sending units replaced while the car was under the 3/36 warranty. The tank would be filled but the needle would drift from above F, to about 2/3, and avg. around 7/8 full when the level were completely full.

mine got screwed up when i tried to change to indiglo gauges, just go on ebay and u can get an all new gauge pod for less than 20 bucks. if u find a good one u can make ur car look like it has a lot less miles too
