car isn't starting
car isn't starting
Car isn't starting... battery is fine and its cranking not to mention car was on an hour prior to it not being able to start. It hasn't had any issues starting before. Are there any simple fixes that can be done since no stores are open now... I just pulled ecu codes and this is what I got...
0101: camshaft position sensor...
From the sticky...
"My book says DTC 0101 is caused by the Camshaft Position Sensor (Phase). This sensor is located on the engine front cover facing the camshaft sprocket. It detects the cylinder number signal. The Engine Control Module uses this signal to control spark plug firing order and also to sequence the fuel injectors correctly. If the CPS is bad the ECM will fire the plugs at the wrong time, or not fire them at all. This would account for a no-fire symptom."

Replace CPS
This happened with me too. It's the CPS. The car stalls at times and it takes several tried to start it. I drive for 20 minutes, it's fine. Then it happens again. I replaced the CPS and all was fine.

In a nutshell, the CEL doesn't post a code unless it fails to start two or more times in a row. Try removing the key and reinserting it when it won't start. That always worked after a no-start. Mine did this intermittently for several months, until it got worse and I got a CEL. Then I pulled the codes, did the troubleshooting, and replaced it. Just be sure to check the fuse, ground, etc first because it's an $80 part.
It's super easy to change: it's a single 10mm bolt holding it to the pass. side of the engine.

if the ECU tells you that sensor is bad then replace it. If it throws that code again then you have a short on that wire. Cost me over $500 at the dealership for them to figure it out.
