E&G asking about grill interest

I've mentioned in some other thread that I had contacted E&G about making a CTS V-series style mesh grill for us, and they've finally written back.
I figured since this is a little 'major' I might as well start a new thread to gather some idea of how many people would be up for this type of grille.

Here's what E&G wrote:

Thank you for contacting E&G Classics. We are the largest manufacturer
of
custom grilles in the country. We do produce a stainless steal grille
for
the Maxima. It can be viewed on our web site www.egclassic.com

We do not have any plans at this time to produce a mesh grille for the
car.
When we decide on what vehicles to manufacture grilles for and what
type, we
research the sales volume of the car so we can determine the opportunity
for
recovering tooling costs. With the Nissan Altimas popularity, we knew
that
it would be an extremely popular grille in stainless steel and in mesh.
Maxima sales due to the cost of the car and it being a much more
luxurious
and serious performance car are much lower than the Altima. We have to
sell
a minimum of 100 grilles to recoup tooling costs.

If there is enough interest in your club for us to manufacture an Altima
or
CTS style mesh grille, we would be interested in doing it. Based on
similar
sized cars, I would approximate the cost at $300.00 to $325.00.

Please let me know if you organization is interested.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Titman
National Sales Manager
E&G Classics, Inc.
800-394-2774

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SO...Can we find out how many people would be interested somehow? I don't know if there's 100 of us in here who would want this type of grille, but I'm interested to see how many we can get here in the org.
I would go for the mesh one like in the pic with the hamburger... it has to have a border though, and they would have to make it for the bottom also:
This one is pretty cool, and it's $225 not $300.
I don't think the Maxima is $75 bigger though.
I'd like the chrome because it would go with my wheels...
A style similar to that would look good with that kind of heavy duty mesh and the chrome surround on the Max. Now, the cost to produce the mesh....chump change, the surround in chrome or black, should not be that expensive. 300 bucks or more for a grill.....way out of my league. Hell, for that price, you could buy the mesh, go to a fabrication shop and have one custom made and polished or painted for you. The Bently style mesh looks nice and heavy duty, like the trim that surrounds it....but way too much. I have seen the aftermarket 300 grills.....Bently style, some of them go for almost 600 bucks. When do you say when on a grill? Hell, want something new, try a reverse billet grill.....lime mine but vertical. Might be different. Then surround it with a chrome trim.
that price is ridiculous. I bought the same grille as Carcus today and I'm going to try to get it powder coated instead of the chrome look. we'll see
Ive been thinking of a vertical grille for months... If someone was to produce that, Id quickly buy. I was thinking something like this:
Oddly enough I just spent a little over 300.00 on a grill last tuesday...
Sears had these babys on sale...
Quick question about some billet grills. I know B-Cool Billets makes a grill and lower valence and they run about 300.00 for the two. I found this grill on ebay and was wondering if any of you all have heard or ordered from this guy. Thanks in advance for the help.
Ive bought both of mine from them... I believe carcus bought his upper one there and I know JJT did. Ive seen a couple around here from others and their not even half as thick of bars as mine. Ask for Juan, hes pretty cool. They ship fast too.
Sorry about the crappy pics I still havent shined the top one. Believe it or not it took me over an hour to put the two bottom pieces in. Forget about using the screws they send with it...
Yep that's the same grill as mine, KCMaxx and carcus. Great grill IMO! Hardly any upkeep needed and sturdy as hell.
KC - car looks good brother!
And $300 for a grill seems kinda excessive...
meh. It would be pretty good without that center section. For me, one of the biggest reasons to change the stock grill is to get rid of the huge bar down the center for something more normal looking. That seems to be a trend with japanese cars. First mitsubishi, now nissan, and watch toyota be not far behind. I dont like that look.
I wouldn't bother bidding on the grille. What are you goin to save....$10? Just use the buy it now. They have a few on hand. I just bought mine yesterday and he said it should go out Monday via ups ground. Goin to see what it looks like on my car in the chrome but may try to powder coat it a different color. Something like a black or some kind of smoke to go with the car
I would definately spend the money for the grille because its nicer than the same old that i constanly see driving around. I am sure its definately good quality . I have also contacted them about making an altima style grille for the 04 maxima.
I agree 100%, get rid of the center section. That grill if made for the Max with that mesh would be a good alternative then. I went with the billet, because I do not like the Mitsubishi look. I do like the chrome trim around the grill though. Just my opinion. Hell, for us....we only have the billet, trendz style, and mixes of both, than the other in my opinion, ugly one with cutouts. What about a reverse billet, going up and down. That would be easy to make and different. Wish I had a tooling shop to make a few custom ones and see what sells. Now, if Jesse James shop was in my neighborhood.....hehehe.
I am not very happy to see most of the aftermarket stuff is just run off Altima style. I want something DIFFERENT.....until then, will sport the billet, all the Altima out here, over 50% have the trendz.
Someone take one of out billet grills and photoshop it to make it waterfall style. Wonder how that would look. Anyone got some photoshop skills?
I agree with DeusExMaxima in that $300 strikes me as steep (prohibitive? exhorbitant?) for a grill. That said, as modifications go, in comparison is a $300 grille really that much more than something like, say, chrome rims, which can be just as expensive, if not even (considerably) more expensive PER WHEEL than a $300 grill.
I wish to be very clear that I am in no manner putting forth criticism of anyone's decision to spend their hard-earned money on whatever modification they want. It would just be enlightening to me to know from some of you why it might be that $1K to $2K (or more) for wheels is acceptable while $300 for a grille might be over the edge.
While I like the stock rims, I have also thought about getting something aftermarket in chrome. After some consideration, for me, I just couldn't see putting out that much more $ for chrome rims, though I think it's great for people who do and find satisfaction with their effort.
Maybe it's that in most people's mind wheels are a more valued and higher impact modification, but grilles are pretty conspicuous on a vehicle too.
So, what about it? Are there some of you who have put out good coin for aftermarket rims but would balk at $300 for a mesh grille? If so, I'd be interested in reading your thoughts.
I agree with you, but so far, out of all the Maxima grills....there is nothing offered that is worth over 200 bucks to me. Now, something like a 300C grill with a chrome trim....might be if it looked quality, the Bently grill style. I understand that a grill stands out almost as much as rims...but rims are a bigger investment. Just my 2 cents on what you were looking for as far as an opinion. A grill should really not be a major $$$ mod. There is really not much craftsman work in any of the Maxima grills in my opinion to make them high dollar. That does go for rims though some times....the chrome on my 20" is not doing so well....granted, I live near a beach, salt is not good for chrome, part is my fault, the other, crappy chrome plate.
Somebody backed into my Grill today. The two center slots on the bumber cover that hold the grill in place broke causing the grill to be slightly loose on the bottom. Does anybody know of an aftermarket clip or bracket that i can use to fasten the grill to the bumber without any type of glue?
I just picked one up from them...
Any suggestions on where I can pick up the burger? I was looking at mine yesterday and it's a little banged up (paint on 2 letters is actually chipped!) and I hear it's more trouble than it's worth to try to re-use it for the new one.
Thanks
Thanks. I hate going to the dealership for parts anymore, but I guess that won't hurt...
I just paid for it, so it should be installed by next week. I'll take some pictures when it's done.
Now if I could only get the guy painting my spoiler to paint the calipers in Smoke... that would rock.
...
I'm starting to feel like DeusExMaxima now...
Like the LS w and w/o the logo! VERY COOL. Something about the vertical lines. Does anyone actually make a grill with vertical lines?
I don't know of any company that actually makes a vertical grill. I think a vertical grill would go nicely with the lines on the hood and the headlights.
