In-cabin Microfilter group deal via Dave....

Dave had me pass this on cause he saw the thread earlier about the filter, but couldnt respond. Anyway.....if we get this going, we can get the filter for $39.16. It isnt like a HUGE discount, but its the best price ive ever seen. Post a reply here if interested. Im sure Dave will chime in eventually

Benefits of the GD? .........I know, benefits of the filter. It basicly cleans the air before it enters the cabin and removes that dank smell from the air and removes most allergy agents. One visable thing ive noticed is, that without it, you get this fine coating of dust and particles all over the dash from the vents, but if you have a filter installed, you dont get that.

okay, He said that the one the car originally came with was just a paper one and has in the past been washed and reused (although it was never reccomended). The new ones that we will be getting have carbon in them, so no washing.

As far as shipping goes, $5.75 for MOST locations. Restrictions do apply, namely if youre out of the 48 states or live on the summit of a mountain.

As far as this washing thing goes...I can see being economical and saving money, but I work in the HVAC trade and the stuff these filters are made of are the same fibers that some of our furnace filters are made of. I would never wash one of those simply because of the mechanics of the filter itself. you may be able to get away with it once, but under repeated strain, it will just break down and be useless. just my $.02

Well, considering I just did a mock purchase at Courtesy, that is a good deal. At Courtesy, the filter itself is $45.62 and then the cheapest shipping method is another $8.65, so your total is $54.27. Dave is offering it for about 10 bucks off. Please lets not spit in his face for trying to help.

Tell him the stealers are selling them for about $45 right out of the store. If he can lower the price to about $35 then once you add the shipping you'll be right arount $40 which is not bad.

Spit in his face? What the hell are you talking about?
You might want to rethink your word choice.

The dealers here want $45 here, plus tax. If you'd rather buy it locally, then go right ahead. I'd just as soon give Dave the business, even if it doesn't save me a nickel. At least I know I'm buying from a guy who has supported Maxima owners over the years.

Epacy I was only suggesting another alternative. Does'nt mean you have to take my advice. The final decision is yours since you are the one spending the money. I completly understand your point of giving him the business instead of the stealers. I am not gonna need one again for a while since I just replaced mine like a month ago, but if I had another alternative at the time then I would probably have chosen that option instead of giving my money to the stealers.

Well, it was just the words that came to mind. It just appeared that even though he was trying to help us as he always does, everybody always wants more more more, and it can be insulting.

Do the dealerships sell the carbon filled filter, or regular paper filter that looks like stock air-box filter?

Nice looking out for Dave, but where is the "DEAL" part of the "Group-DEAL"?

I'm not "looking out" for Dave, just expressing my opinion as to why I'd rather buy from him than the local dealer, even if there isn't much of a price break. Besides, just how much of a discount do you expect to get on a $45 part? Dave's price is nearly 15% less than Courtesy Nissan's, and $5.75 is a very reasonable price to box and ship the part (Courtesy's minimum shipping is $8.65).

They didn't come with the filter from the factory. But they DO have a slot for the filter. So you just need to get one and install it.
