Paintless ding remover
Paintless ding remover
Has anyone had any experience with this method? I have a few dings on both my Maxes, not bad enough to consdier repainting the whole car. So I was wondering if this was a good venture. Also, how big of ding can they get out? I have an appointment this weekend, so hopefully I can get some good results, so any feedback from people that have done it before then, feel free to tell me what the job was like, if you're satisfied, and if it actaully does remove them from sight.
Wow, nice feedback, nadir, what would you consider an "average size" ding ? Mine has a few small ones here and there, but one on the pass door that kind of went from one small one to the other and looks almost wave-like.
Would that be what you mean?

They can do a pretty good job. Theres a guy that comes to the dealership I work at about once a week. As long as it didn't stretch/crease the metal they can take care of it...even stretched/creased dents can be made to look better. It's pretty cool to watch them do their thing.

I had them do my Max and I was impressed by their work. It takes skill so make sure the guy isn't "learning" on your car. I had him take out 6 dents averaging about the size of a dime and you couldn't even see where they had been... except the ones where the paint had been gnarled by the other guy's door!
I asked the guy doing mine where they could get dents out and basically he said anywhere they can get their tools into besides the "folds" in sheet metal. The folds are tough but they can work on them but they'll never come out perfect but they will look much better and most people probably wouldn't notice. So, if you have some dents in your roof, you may have to look elsewhere but I don't know for sure. I think they could probably do the trunk and hood without too much difficulty since the covers come off without much hassle.
Anyway, I got 2 dings in almost the same spots as previous dents within a week of having the guy do it... upsetting to say the least!
One more word of advice... if you've never seen someone do it and you have access to the shop floor (or outside or where ever they do it) watch them work if they don't mind. It really is amazing to watch a crease or ding be massaged away by someone who really knows their job.
Hope that helps and good luck!

great info!
how much would it cost to remove a bunch of hail dents from the hood? (bout 15 on hood, 5 on roof, and a few more elsewhere)? i'm sure people who did this can estimate. I'm poor but i can't drive a car when everybody says "whoa man you have a bunch of dents on your hood!"...."NO ****"

From my experience they charge $x for the first dent and a fraction thereof for each subsequent dent removed at the same time. I went to a new place last June and got 2 or 3 taken out, including a difficult one near the drivers door pillar, and I gave the guy Cdn$50 cash under the table. One previous time I had 2 removed and it was Cdn$75 for the first one and C$15 for the 2nd one. Don't have a clue what they charge in your area.
I had a dent in the middle of my hood the diameter of a golf ball and about 1/4" deep (no cracked paint or scratches) and the guy removed it to the point where I couldn't see it.
They hold a flourescent light up to the side of your car and pick up minor dents that you can't see with the naked eye, unless perhaps you're at a perfect angle in bright sunshine. Those kind of dents come out pretty fast.
I highly recommend the PDR method if the guy knows his stuff. Good luck!

This method is one of the best way to fix dings. It will cost less than painting and bonding. You get to keep the original paint on the car. It all depends on the skill of the person like working on stereo, body parts all the way down to mechanics. Good luck and let us know what is your experiences.

I did this on my previous car and they took all the dings out completely. The surface looked as good as new. They do charge a lot (over 100 for me), but they get the job done.
excellent way to go. ive seen them do some real miracles, taking out some nasty dents, dings, and creases. as far as pricing it all depends whos doing it. ive seen it charged per ding, as well as per panel. def a much better option then paint work.
I have two small dings on my car. I realize they're not as serious as some of the ones you guys have, but they bother me. They were there when I got the car, so I have no idea how they got there. Anyway, I figured something like this might work, because they are so small. Do you guys think this'll work for me?
Well a hail storm just blew through the area while I was on the highway. It was so loud hitting the windows that I thought they were going to break. I parked under an overpass but it was too late. I have 20-30 dents on the roof and about 5 each on the hood and trunk. My deductible is $500. Does anybody have a guesstimate of what this type of hail damage costs? More than my deductible maybe or not likely? Im gonna call my agent tomorrow but I figured I would vent real quick....ok here goes **** **** mother****er son of a ***** c***sucker...... ok all better now. I love auto editing
