quick question for '99 owners

quick question for '99 owners
Just wondering if the 99 models have the push button release for the key, i recently got an entire leather interior swap from a 99 and im trying to swap steering wheel and air bag in my 96 along with the black plastic surounding the steering column but cant remember if the car i pulled it from had the button

Ahh, good call.
you can only take the key out in park. I remember this because I had my car is 1st so I could take out the deck and I remember the extemly annoying door beep beep beep beep...
Had to disconnect the battery.... Prolly should have dont that first anyways

My best logical answer would be, It's a way to let you know to pull up the E-brake. In auto if the car isnt in Park the key wont release, letting the driver know that he/she has left it in gear. Im guessing 5-speeds are the say way, maybe letting you know to leave it in Neutral and pull up the E-brake.

why leave it in neutral, i always leave my car in gear.
Its extra safty incase the ebake gives out.
My car is either parked in my driveway or in my schools lot. Both of which wont make my car roll anywhere. And It would be very very obivous if the secruity people see my car being pushed by a bunch of lincoln tech students....

ok well now i get it lol....the car i pulled the interior from was an auto, guess i'll be bustin out the dremal if the steering wheel even fits on my 96 which, hopfully it will, ordered security torx today so i should know next week
