i don't know but i'd be interested to find out. the stock shifter has got to go, but i can't see myself spending more than $50 on a shifter...

$50? that's hardly askin a lot for a shifter. some people get B&M's for $130+ and then get a **** on top of that. go to the maxmods site to see a list and compare. just remember you get what you pay for and there are a lot of horror stories of people breaking the e-bay nismo ones in hardly-spirited driving.

B&M

I can only speak for myselft, but, i bought an ebay short shifter and after 8 months it snapped in half. I would not recommend it. It fits sloppy as well and it doesnt always fit w/ the stock bolt. Go with B&M!! i can get it for 150 shipped and i would recommend it 150%.. It feels great and the difference is incredible. its 100% better than ebay shifters.. ebay shifters only bring the stick w/ the ball.. The b&m contains everything, including the actual shifter base w/ bearings. I installed mine in about 35 minutes because i already knew what i was doing. Let me know if you need me to help you find one. Check out page 5 on my page and you will see how it looks. It actually comes w/ the shift **** also. i cant complain.

i picked up a used aftermarket shifter for my TA for about $50 and it was great.

oh well, looks like the ebay "shifter" is just the stick anyway, not the actual shifter.

depends

It depends on what you want it for!!!! If you just want it so that you can add it to your mods list and tell your friends you got one, then get a cheap one. If you want it for PRECISION/Short/Quick shifting then get a REAL STS.. This b&m has no play and feels great!! its up to you.. Make a WISE decision.. lol

Had my ebay sts for about a year now w/no probs. Why do you need to slam the shifter from gear to gear??? I can't imagine actually breaking it because I don't drive my car like a 16 year old who has no idea how to shift. You obviously don't know how to drive a 5spd if you brake it shifting to different gears. You don't need 100lbs of force to shift gears, maybee its because you're an idot who thinks his maxima is a race car!

You gotta be some sort of HICK to express yourself in that matter. There is no need to express yourself in that matter. There is no need to call someone an IDIOT. You are no better than anyone else. MAYBE, i received a defective
shifter, MAYBE, im just stronger than the average human being!!! There are alot of things that can happen.. Before i bought my cheap shifter, someone had warned me about that and had told me that his snapped as well.. Im glad to hear that you still have yours and i wish everyone that has an ebay shifter luck..Piece of advice "dont ever try to race when coming out of the GYM, especially when you just finished doing biceps w/ a 60lb dumbell".. Either way, im happy it happened to me because now im 125% happy w/ my b&m.... And by the way, MY CAR IS A RACE CAR!!!!! =)

Do you understand leverage? When you exert that much force trying to shift faster than need to you're going to put 5-10 times as much stress on the lower end of the shifter. I bet it happened when you were beating your car up & down the track trying to shave tenths of your 1/4 mile. Go musclehead!!!!

Been hearing alot about those ebay shifters breaking. Could be the driver, could be the quality. Why not get a pacesetter, you can probably get it for about $70 shipped and have a brand name and not really worry about it breaking. It would suck to have your car towed because a $30 item broke when it could be prevented if it was due to poor quality/workmanship.

So when you guys say it snaps, does it literally snap that you can just pull it off? my transmission is weak (it's being rebuilt right now and it's a whole another story so don't bother commenting on this) and I don't think the car will last any more than 2 years so I don't want to spend that much money on a shifter, but still i would like to get a decent one. maxgtr2000, where did you get the pacesetter and does anyone else know if it is any good? thanks~
