water pump and clutch cost
water pump and clutch cost
I am getting a new clutch (140k, not really slipping but I want it done since I need new CV boots. I also have a slow leak from the water pump so I decided to do it all at once. I bought all the parts. Clutch (NOT key value) was 135, pump was 90, both O.E. set ups, shafts were reman from advance. How much labor should this cost me and should I put a chain tensioner on it when I do the pump? I am replacing the rear main seal while the tranny is out. Mechanic is a friend, that's why I bought the parts. I can buy the parts better than he can from the dealer.
Any ideas on labor?

I paid $550 for the pump and installation at the dealer. The first dealer wanted $700 so I looked around. I called one place that said $250 out the door, but then they kept telling me that I had a timing belt and not a chain (I had a hunch that it was too good to be true). I sure was not going to let them touch my car. The combination of this, as well as conversations with people from other shops, and reading some horror stories convinced me to go back to Nissan(different dealer). No problems since

Yes, the price was for the pressure plate and t-bearing along with the disk. The total bill from nissan was 260, complete clutch, rear seal, water pump.
Should I replace the tensioner while I am having the water pump done?
