Alarm beep mod help please.

I went into this thinking it would be easy, as it probably should be, but for some reason I can't make ANY sense of the diagrams, instructions found on the vqpower.com write up (http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...howpage&pid=39). Can someone please tell me how to utilize the relay, what wires to splice with what, etc...Just pretty much everything you can think of to help me understand what to do. Thanks in advance.
Lou

yeah i did it without the relay. its not needed. its pretty straight forward. as per the insturctions just splice the green/orange wire in the car with the red wire on the buzzer. then splice the orange wire on the car with the black wire on the buzzer. thats basically it. you might want to make the beep more audible like i did by moving it under the trunk. just run some extra wire down through the plug in the trunk and to the bottom of the car and mount the buzzer somewhere under there.

Then why the f.k did he say buy a relay? I realize it's only like $4, but still.

JUST A NOTE TO THIS MOD. I just redid mine because corrosion ate thru the wire just as it goes into the buzzer. so this time I put a layer of silicone sealer on the bottom of the buzzer and about 1/8" on the wire. hope this saves a redo. oh yeah, this is mounted to the bottom of the bumper, out in the elements.

Ok, I just installed this mod. I could hardly hear the damn thing with all the noise in NY. Is there anything better out that there will give me some better noise?

I took the siren from a viper alarm and hid it in the area where the jack goes and hooked it up via the relay. It's plenty loud. It goes wooo wooo when I lock the doors. It's cool.

Another thing...can somebody show a more detailed picture than vq shows. They just show a whole bunch of wires. Did you just look for the certain colors and connect them to the buzzer?

i did mine w/o using relay. it works fine. if you leave the beeper in the trunk then you can barely hear it. i pull the wire out side and mount it under the bumper and so i can hear it better. its not that loud but you can hear. haha i was thinkin about using the smoke detector beep because its loud. but i havent did that yet.

here is a clip of our g35 beep for comparison. they sound very similar, the max just has slower beeps.

i just spliced in some extra wire and ran it through the rubber grommet under the spare tire and then mounted it to the styrofoam on the underside of the bumper.

That siren idea sounds cool. I can compete with all the other car alarms on the block. Those damn car alarms go off every 5 min. I hear pigions more than I hear this damn buzzer.

It's not really that loud. It's the perfect volume really. It never gets far enough in the "sound clip" or whatever to be that loud, it's only the first 1 second of it played twice. I'll try and get a recording of it this weekend.

The Problem is...

My max's relay was one orange wire & all the others are green, so after a spent and hour trying figure it out with the relay & the wire harness separated, I took the relay mount off and tried it again.

My suggestion is to use one of the spiffy voltage testers that can poke the wire without stripping it, and try each of the green wires as you hit the lock button on your remote, and watch for 12V on your tester, and bingo, splice it with red and ground the black on the mount screw. It sounds great until you close the trunk... but I'll get some more wire & run it out and under the bumper as described above.

I just wish I could get it to flash & beep a little faster so it sounds like a factory beep.

I wired my buzzer like this and the only two green wires are powered when I press the lock button, are for each blinker, so when I splice in the buzzer with either one, I beep with I signal.

Also, I tried black to the orange & red to each of the green wires, and since the red is constantly powered, the sounder is constantly sounding.

I have no idea what to do.
