what is a limited edition se?

i found a 99 SE that im going to look at (i just wrecked my 96 GXE)

the owner said that it was a special edition SE, something about the sunroof and the rims, but i didnt catch all of it and want a more specific answer.

additionally, what about the car itself? 99 SE, silverish exterior, said it runs great, automatic, 76k miles, asking 8900$. based on what ive been able to find on autotrader et al, it seems a decent price, especially since i dont have alot of time to find a car. theres only crap for under 8000$ it seems

thanks!

It's a special edition only made in '99. They came with titanium gauges and probably some other stuff. I'm sure some of the owners of the car will pop in and enlighten you. I'm pretty sure all the info is in the faqs. Nothing about sunroofs though. Any model could have that.

yea any model could have a sunroof

you will notice
titanium gage faces and rims
se-l floormats and badges on the side

then they can also have other things
not all came with leather
may have the cold weather package with heated seats

are u sure you want an auto... if you are thinking about doing performance mods you may regret it... i know i wish i had a manual right now

$8,900 is a fair price. My friend just bought a '99 se-l for $8,400... it has 81k miles.

I just paid $7700 for a semi-modded SE-L with 76k. 8900 is a little steep.

I'd ask $9000 for my modded 99 SE Limited.
That said, I do live in the most expensive area in the N.E. as well .

Upper Bergen County.

It's a genuine Nissan mask. I don't think you can get them for the 4th gens anymore.

What is "surface street driving?" I hope you don't do a lot of underground street driving too. Be a man and get a 5-speed, you will regret it once you finally learn how to drive.

u want to get the max in a 5sp. the auto seems sluggish IMO and is made for those who want the max for the grocery getter aspect. with the 5sp the car comes to life and just ROARS. my car is nearly as fast as my friend's 95 m3, and all i have is a hacked airbox (ypipe comin soon). it will only take u a week to master the 5sp. its well worth the training.

last july i bought my 96 gxe w/ 88k miles for 5700$.

The first car I bought was a Red 87 Cavalier Z24 5spd. I drove it for 6 years and loved the 2.8 engine. The rest of the car sucked, leaky factory sunroof, digital dash kaput, etc., but driving a 5spd was too fun. It has it's irritations in heavy traffic, but it's definitely more fun. You just feels like your more involved in actually driving the car vs. steering it.

It's kinda like driving a motorcycle, if you've ever actually driven one (not as a passenger) you know what I'm talking about. It's a thrill you can't relate to unless you've done it.

Manuals do take some getting used to and clutching on hills while a newbie makes you sweat, it's worth it in the long run. Autos have their place and I'm satisfied with mine, but a 5spd is the only way to fly for true performance. Every comparo I've read always has the manual "0-60 times" being faster than auto.

Plus, driving a manual has a way of turning you into a performance snob. LOL It's an unexplained phenomenon that occurs when you accelerate and shift, something pops in the brain and brings about feelings of euphoria and superiority over auto driving weaklings who don't know any better. Doh! See there, a flashback....

So take the manual snobbery with a grain of salt and develop a thicker skin. They mean well. lol

Just bought a 99 SE-L for 8700 w/68,000

The leather in an SE-L is perforated
The rims are tinted a titanium color (darker than regular 5-spokes)
There is an SE logo in the leather on my SE-L - but not sure if that's SE-L specific or not
I'm not sure what the hell the titanium gauges refers to, cause I don't see any titanium on my gauges... they look like regular SE gauges to me.
SE-L floormats
SE-L emblems on the doors

And SE-Ls have some limited colors "I think" from what I have gathered.

There really isn't that big of a difference.

As for the 5spd vs Auto - you're the one buying it - spend your money the way you want. Remember that there are not a whole lot of 5spd Maxima owners that bought the car to fetch groceries. I tried to find a nice 5spd and I was limited on time as you are... I couldn't find one, so I settled for an Auto cause I didn't want to travel cross country to get one.

The statements in this thread make me chuckle though. Cause, if I called my dad and said 5spds were faster than Autos, he'd hang up on me. In this case however, they are faster and more fun in most people's (including mine) opinion.
