Intake Sensor / Inspection Question
Well, its time to get my car inspected. However, i have my check engline light on because when i installed my frankencar intake, i disconnected the sensor (obviously plugged it back in, but now i have this light).
My question is, how do i go about clearing this code? Obviously i can clear the code, however I am told by mechanics (ones doing the inspection), that they cant just clear the code and inspect it. They mentioned something about driving around after clearing the code for 30-50 miles (to see if the code would come back on?). What i dont understand is why they cant just clear it and inspect it real quick? Are the codes tracable or something (thus, theyll get in trouble?). He mentioned putting my stock intake back on, and then clearing the code. Is this the only way to get around my problem? If it is, it really isnt a problem, but i wouldnt want to go changing my intake back to stock again if it wasnt totally necessary. Also will any 4th gen intake/airbox work? Might be missing mine (96), but a friend who has a 97 said he'd lend me his. Are they compatable? Thanks in advance. And please ignore my stupidity/lack of knowledge on these types of engine questions heh.

Your stock intake will give you better throttle response. Come see me and I'll show you how to modify it so it breathes better for more top end performance.
If you've plugged the sensor back in, then clear the error code and drive the car for a few days before you have it inspected. Some say a week should be fine.
