14.51 @ 94.53mph bone stock 95 5spd? BS? No.

Headed to the track today because I was bored and I like to race. Weather was awesome. Track was US131 Motorsports Park which is about 20 minutes from my house. I traditionally run about .1 second and 1mph slower here than I do at Byron which is the "fast track" I go to sometimes. Car was on a brand new full tank of gas, so had an extra 70lbs right off the bat. I just removed spare and jack. All seats and trunk carpet etc were still in. A couple largish textbooks still in the car, etc. I was really hoping to be able to back up my claim that all 5spd 4th gens are 14 second cars stock. So all I wanted was a 14.9 and I would have gone away happy. This car has 174,500 miles on it, hasn't had the oil changed in about 8000 miles. Probably low on oil since it leaks it (not sure if it consumes it too, but every time I check the oil its not even visible on the dipstick until I fill it up again, probably once a month I do that). It's a GXE with bose and spoiler added, running stock 95 SE wheels and some lame, dry rotted, Daytona H rated 215-60-15s. Race weight was 3102 with me in it.

Weather at the track was 62 degrees, 25% humidity, 30.33mmHg barometer at 6 when I got there, was 56 degrees, 29% humidity, 30.33mmHg baro when I left at 9pm.

First run of the night was 14.90 @ 94.13mph on a 2.29 60' so I was happy right there. This was a hot run, only about a 10 minute cooldown in the tech line after getting off the highway. Hotlapped and ran again 14.83 @ 94.12mph on a 2.27 60', already I'd beaten my previous best stock time from my old 96 GXE which was 14.87 @ 92.62 on a 2.20 60'. Different track though than before, and much better weather conditions than before (conditions back 3 years ago were like 87 degrees and 75% humidity, baro unknown but I could look it up if anyone really wants to know, I'll have to dig out the slip and figure out the date, etc).

So at this point I was really stoked, thinking I could definately pull off a 14.7 or maybe a low 14.6 if I can get a decent 2.20ish launch. Let the car cooldown for about an hour and then ran:

2.192 60'
9.365 1/8
75.37mph
14.574 1/4
93.75mph

After this I was astonished, didn't think I had a prayer of going that quickly, but I guess the cooldown helped. Ran 2 more hotlapped runs but they were poor, 15.11 @ 90.68 and 15.10 @ 91.67. Car apparently heatsoaked badly.

Let it cool down another hour and came back to run this:
2.169 60'
9.307 1/8
75.50mph
14.515 1/4
94.53mph

I didn't think there was any way I'd go faster than the 14.57 but I did. They made last call for the lanes so I really quickly drove back and removed my passenger seat, rear bench, textbooks, backpack, etc. Hoping at this point for a 14.4x but it didn't happen, heatsoak and a bad 2.29 launch resulted in a 15.14 @ 91.46.

Here are the timeslips for my two best passes.

Lol.

That beats the previous record by .2. 94 mph trap speeds stock is incredible. When I ran stock I couldn't do better than a 15.00 but my mph was 91.78, and 92.05 on a run that should have been a 14.9. All other runs were consistant 91 mph, at two different tracks, it boggles my mind that you can get 94 stock, when most Y/I guys are getting that, but you've often proven that you're a great driver (13.4 where the 2nd fastest are all in the 13.8 and up range with the same mods). I don't recall any other stock 4th gens trapping 94 mph.

Incredible times, Neal. Guys at the track must've been scratching their heads. I will feel like a bad driver if I don't pull a 13 with the 3.5 this month. You're putting too much pressure on the rest of us

Don't laugh, my non-beater looks just like that, except with sawblades and it's black....

Edit: I see you still have that electrical tape racing stripe, Neal

Oh by the way the 14.51 might be on video, friend of a friend was videotaping, not sure if he got that run though. I know he got my first two though, and I know he unfortunately did not get my 14.57. I'm hoping he got the 14.51. I will post it if it exists.

Yeah the electrical tape racing stripe/brake light holder is still there. Also it's possible the missing grille, missing corner light, missing clearcoat, and missing oil was the weight factor that helped make this possible.

(not really, this car is heavier than my 96 was).

great job !!! Nissan designers got it right the first time , there is lot of guys out there with $$$ invested in intakes/pipes/exhaust in their cars and their times don't even come close to that

at what rpm's did you launch?

Nick.

Given your I guess legendary at this point 1/4 mile runs I think we need a "driving the 1/4 mile like nealoc tutorial." I don't think all the credit can be given to the car since as nick points out there are many modded maxes that would be lucky to run that.

Nice job . Have you taken the beast out to the track yet?

This is the sg!t .. now I really want a beater 5spd .. That car will lots. Sad to see people with mods in 5spds and low 15's ... you need to get your **** in a 6spd and run it stock ...

Always the sleeper, not extreme dyno number or wight numbers ... and still manage to 0wn

damn, makes my maxima REAL slow, i have a y-pipe and ecu and my best time was a 15.041@92.09 mph. i had a slipping clutch, no weight reduction, a busted o2 sensor, and bad launches, but still i dont i could have pulled of a 14.5 even if my car was working well..

good stuff, keep up the great times....

lmao, j/k. I definitely think it's possible in the best of conditions.

Just curious though, have you dyno'd your car within the past few months? I'd like to see what you're putting out, even though you're stock.

I would also like to know your shift points.

It is a $1000 beater. I doubt he plans to dyno it.

Congrats!!! That is an astounding time. Even more so with the amount of miles on it. It must feel good knowing that when people talk about how fast the maxima can be stock, they will talk about your run. Great job.

That's simply incredible Neal...way to raise the bar once again. How fast do you usually shift when at the track? I bet you shift like a madman. It's amazing how a car so ugly can be so damn fast. Congrats man. Now get the beast to the track and set some records

I can't believe you hit a 14.5 with a stock maxima. My elevation screws me for my time and my sucky launching skills. But what is real sad is the fact that even if I went to a sea level track I would probably not hit a 14.5 with my intake/y-pipe/udp/EH'd mevi. I need to go visit neal and let him drive my car and see what he'll run in my car.

That is an awesome time. Just think with that car and all the previous mods from your former car you potentially could be down to a 13.0 or 12.9 If that was your first car with all the mods you would really make all the turbo and SC guys look bad.
