squeky brakes

just barely changed my barkes less than a year ago, and i have had little problem with skweeking til just recently. its really annoying and it sounds like my brakes are going out. im not sure which (front/ back) cuz the sound is kinda all over. i try to be really good to my car and only brake hard when i absolutely have to. also it has been really wet in salt lake lately, and im thinkin this might have something to do with it. maybe the brakes rust over before every stop. just a wild guess though. so im just wondering what you think the problem is.

are you 5speed or auto? what type of pads were put on?

maybe brakes were probely installed and needs adjusting, or could need some more anti squeek compound on it.

a year only of pads seems a bit short of a lifespan but is possible their life is up.

Use plenty of anti-sieze on the backs of the pads and on all the sliding surfaces where the pad is in contact with the sliding shims. Lube them up good! You can also bevel the edges of the pad surface very slightly with a file to help stop squealing.

The brand of pads makes a difference. Check them to see if there is still life on them. Use anti-squeel and lubricate the brackets.

i didn't get cheap pads, i think they were the best that auto zone carries. but i will def do something this weekend. about beveling the edge, i understand its very slight, but won't it just wear away quickly and be flat again?
