4th genners: where do you mount your mp3 player? (pics inside)

after not liking where ProClip (i think its ProClipUSA.com) mounted and how it looked, i decided to custom make my own mount.

basically its a piece of sheet metal cut and screwed directly into the side of the center dash part (like screwed right into the side of the HVAC controls almost (in a blank spot there of course ). then i mounted a cheapo cell phone/pda universal holder to that... ghetto but functional.

i like this location and havnt been able to come up with anything better. anyone have any thoughts?

There is a company which has Panavise bracket which mounts to your dash without any hole made you your max. I have one in my max

I use it for a phone mount but it can be used for anything. Here is the link http://www.canyonriver.com/online/or...ry_Code=Nissan

As a general rule of thumb, I don't drill holes in or cut anything that is stock on the car. Even for wiring I usually use ties to hold any wires together and sometimes wire loom. it actually can look a lot cleaner than it sounds...

anyway, for mounting things sometimes I do something which sounds crude but works...I take a few layers of duct tape and tape it on the dash, then about 5 layers of thick plastic packaging tape to make a very flat/clean surface. then I take one of those little suction cups and use it to attach the device to the dash. sometimes I clean the top layer of tape with rubbing alcohol first. Also, there's nothing wrong with using some duct tape then superglueing something to the duct tape.

ya im not sure if you understood what i did or not, but i used existing holes/screws that hold things together back behind the dash. i wouldnt wanna do anything dumb like you said

interesting approach you mention, creative nonetheless
