What rotors are we talking about here? The drilled wont help you at all.. slotted sounds good to me.

Stress fracture would mean you bent the iron to point of exceeding it's yield strength and it cracked.. somehing you can't do by driving it .. My guess is you have hot spots ... Are you hard on your brakes? I don't think I'm very hard on mine and they;re th autozone special, and also cheap, and have been on for over a year(25k) now. I might be a tad on the lucky side though.

its normal?? but im talking about discount auto parts brakes not really name brand or anything. but as far as it being normal ive never heard of that and if it is bad does it mean that they are wearing improperly or is it just a fact that they get these "cracks" in them?

mzmtg is correct, so no worries unless they're warped badly ...

My autozone cheapies (rear) have what looks like "chips" that have flaked off. Not many, but next time, I think I will be a little more selective.

My old rotors had pretty bad looking stress cracks as well as those dark hot spots. I ended up replacing them, but for little cracks you should be ok as these guys are saying.

I went with PowerSlot rotors and Hawk HPS pads when I replaced my stuff. No more hot spots or cracks, just a good amount of dust .
