It's easy. The first time I took my IMs off, it took me about 90 minutes. The second time, 30 minutes. Get a Haynes/Chiltons manual and follow the directions. I suggest labeling the hoses and where they go.

very simple actually if you know what you are doing.

Ditto. Simple if you know what you're doing (1/2 hr). Even if not, it's not that hard but as has been said, take your time and it's a really good idea to label things so you can get it back together properly. Especially if you're not putting it back together immediately.

Easy once you know how to do it, but finding the bolts on the back of the manifold took me an hour alone. (no manual that day)

I would download one of the Factory Service Manuals that are floating around. They come in real handy. Wish I could print out the whole 400 page thing.

I'm such a dork.. I have the FSM - but for the life of me, couldn't find the section where they talk about pulling the Upper Intake Manifold...

Look in EM (Engine mechanical). I'm not sure there's a designated "upper manifold" section but there's usually a couple of "outer components" diagrams that are helpful and some other torque specs/bolt tightening order diagrams etc. Use these in conjunction with the EGR and EVAP system/vacuum hose diagrams to figure out how it all fits together.

All of this stuff or most of it should be near the beginning of the EM section. Later on it gets into detailed engine tear down.

Thanks! I'll have a look later. I need to clean out th EGR lines and port - and I might not have a choice but to pull the upper IM. Do I need a new gasket if I do pull it?

Take pics will ya - you already have an awesome website and cleaning out the EGR plumbing is something a lot of us could use some guidance on!
