hey, i dont know wtf is going on with my car this is the second time its done it today. I was getting on the highway and i floored it and then the has an extreme hesitation the rpms go up but the mph dont and it rocks my car as if i had a 5 speed. Im not sure exactly what the problem is i had a new engine put it but ive had it for about 2 weeks and its been running perfect till now... I dont have any cel lights. Can someone shed some light on this situation

 

I've never had this problem, but I believe others have commented in the past that this may have something to do with the MAF sensor or perhaps the coils.

Have you had your transmission serviced?

 

CHECK UR COILS....I had the saem issue on my 96 relpaced 2 coils and off i go

 

i just had the fluid changed in the tranny it doesnt seem to be the tranny but i have a feeling its the coil packs thanks. How do i know which ones are bad?

 

unplug htem one by one and whatever one u unplug doesnt effect ur idle is ur bad one

 

Make sure you did not Over Fill your tranny or engine oil. That also happens if you done that. I am not saying you did, but something you can check.

 

hmmm maybe i will check the guy that installed the engine did an oil change/ tranny fluid change. ANd i can never get an a ccurate reading on the stupid oil dipstick the WHOLE stick is covered in oil so i dunno ill just drain my oil and refill it it has to be done anyway.

 

When unplugging the coils...should the engine be running? Or should you turn it off...unplug...turn on...turn off and so on?

keep the engine running the whole time, otherwise it will be nearly impossible to notice a difference.

With the engine running there will be a very noticable drop in engine noise.

Note: if there isn't a drop when you remove one of the coils, it does not ness. mean that it is the coil, though that is the most likely case. Also inspect your spark plug for visual damage and your fuel injector.

 

What do you mean it has to be done anyway? You just got the oil changed.

A mechanic/technician would have to be completely incompetent to put in too much oil. If anything, they are guilty of short-changing you in that department.

My advice is not to drain the oil out. Just check it when the engine is cold. Take the dipstick out. Wipe it off and reinsert it. Then slowly remove it and eyeball the oil level on the dipstick.

The chances of you needing to drain oil out are remote at best!

 

By unpluging the Coil, you will get a check engine light. This is not the best way of testing coil pack. You can test the coil pack with OHM meter. If there is a dead Coil pack, your engine will have a lot of shake, and it will triger the Service Engine soon light.

 

you suppose to check the Tranny oil, when the engine is running, and car has been wormed up.

 

i tried to do it with the ohm meter it didnt work i tried it and followed the haynes manual but couldnt get it to work if some one can elaborate some more..

 

Yeah.. unplugging it while its running is pretty dangerous... Alot of power is going through right there, and if it bridged to something metal nearby, you'de get a nice shock....

to get an accurate oil level reading you gotta warm engine to normal operating temp. Take the dipstick out and leave it out for about 10-15minutes to let the oil drain back down. then stick the dipstick in and you should get a nice clean reading.

 

Correct me if i'm wrong but i heard that if you haven't changed the tranny fluid for a long time or many miles you shouldn't change it for some reason.

 

The jury's out on that one. If it's your car you're talking about I would be inclined to do the full flush if it hadn't been done for say 60K. Otherwise, a drain and fill should be done every 30K.
