dont know if its the same but i have some wrapped around the exhaust piping in different sections. and its all held together with hose clamps of all things. dont know if i need to duplicate with the new exhaust or not for heat.

have you tried tightening it? I dont think the heat shield is really necessary.

yea, but its all bent in weird directions and since my B-pipe is bigger than stock, it rattles against it. its kinda a PIA to bend into the perfect spot bc theres such little clearance between it and my exhaust in certain parts. as long as it wont torch the car and cause and explosion i think im gonna do it. if its supposed to protect the body from heat - why is it made of metal (an excellent conductor)?

Mine rusted off as well,

people say it's to prevent something from under the car catching fire if the exhaust is really hot.

Just don't park over any 1 foot tall dry grass and you're all set...

the only heat shield i took off was the one under my shifter. when i installed the short shifter i had to get rid of the heat shield for clearance reasons. but my shifter does get hot after driving for a while since it's right above the cat

I've ripped off the entire heat shield that covers B-pipe yesterday, it was rusted through and than some. Hopefully my gas tank doesn't mind the extra heat.....

Mine are off too for about year now. I don't see it causing any problems.

Don't forget leaves in the fall. People in my neighborhood just pile them in the street by the curb without bags or anything.

Some guy who lives 4 houses down from me had his car explode twice b/c he did this. But they were both old buicks. I laugh because he still has a shatty old buick, and still parks on the street.

heat shields are there for a purpose.. i have a whole exhaust switch(headers, cat, bpipe, exhaust) and have the heat shields except the one on the bottom of the cat.... its a preference choice really.. mine dont rattle even with a 15" sub in the trunk. Its called making sure they are SECURE and the screws are tight.
