How Long Till ECU is back to normal?

I just installed my new knock sensor and a ghetto intake... had to disconnect the battery to doup the knock sensor.. so i was wondering how long it takes the ECU to get back on track and get all the timing together? Is there a mile figure?

im tired of driving at 2k rpm's

Why are you driving at 2000 rpm? The ecu was ready the second you connected the battery back. The ECU always adjusts so waiting for it to be "normal" is a waste of time.

from the posts ive read, it takes time for the ECU to get back to normal after installing a new knock sensor.

my whole issue was my knock sensor was faulty (went 113k miles) and was also causing the 02 sensor to be faulty.. basically i was getting 13-14 mpg and burning very rich. Now that i got my new knock sensor in im hoping that it will fix the faulty 02 sensor reading and my car will no longer run in safe mode... so i'll be getting my mpg back.

as for the intake, i figured that while the ECU is adjusting, i shouldn't really be pushing the car to much.

what i wanted to know is if there was a set amount of miles to travel for the ECU to get its timing straight, from the knock sensor writeup, it said that results were felt in a few days... someone from the honda forums said to go around 50 miles... i was hoping for more feedback.

yea try resetting ur ecu also.

normal is a wide range in this situation. The ecu will constantly advance timing until knock is detected. If your CEL light is gone, don't constantly reset the ECU, you're doing nothing. The only time resetting the ECU will be an advantage is when it throws a CEL light or there is a stored coded other than DTC 0505.

Hmmm Sounds like your MAF is having problems, check the electrical connector is pushed in firmly

Ive been contemplating on getting the Technosquare ECU upgrade, but I was wondering if ECU upgrades affect mpg? If it does, does it raise or lower it?

hmm, about 60 miles of highway driving (60 mph) and city driving. I reset my ecu and I need to get my car inspected again on the same day. The mechanic told me to drive around the city streets where there's light and on the highway. Keep the car running average around 60 mph on the highway. After an hour of running back and forth, I took it back to my mechanic and re-inspected my car. NYC inspection kind of suck, but what can I do.

AxixKill - You've got that completely backwards.

Your bad O2 sensor is causing your engine to run rich, which in turn could cause excessive ping. The O2 sensor needs to be replaced in order to get your engine to run correctly. The knock sensor code usually goes away after your correct the O2 issue. If the knock sensor code comes back after the O2 was replaced, then the KS sensor should be replaced.

Your still going to get poor gas mileage until you change the O2. You might even get the KS code as a "ghost" code along with the O2 code until you get it replaced..

Axiskill, to answer your question, the FSM says that the ecu will reset with in 24 hours of disconnecting the battery.

In my haynes manual it says after you reset your ECU, after you drive 15~20 minutes, the ECU has learned most of the cars responses/habits/settings/etc..
