KS question

My knock sensor is out and I noticed a slight tick at idle or when I pass parked cars at low speeds I can hear the tick. Is this common with a failing KS? Think it will go away when I get the new one on Wednesday? 130,000 miles

this tick and KS are not related at all...The tick could be timing chain rattle..nothing really to worry about.

I just recently replaced my ks at 138,000 and I had a ticking sound also, I pulled the car over and check where it was coming from. It was valve chatter. I took it in for an oil change and they said I was a qt low. After the oil change, no more chatter. I have owned several older hondas and nissans and all seemed to have an almost unnoticeable tick coming from under the hood. If you really think it might be something that needs attention, open your hood with the car running and listen to find where the tick is coming from.
