Whenever I'm changing tracks on a cd on my hu, my sub makes a loud sound. Anyone know how to fix this? Does it have something to do with the amp frequency?
I'm running alpine 9815 hu
alpine mrd501 amp
edO.44 sub

 

checking your ground is always a good idea, it causes problems like that

 

on the amp or hu?

 

more than likely you have the gains set too high and its amplifying the "quiet" between tracks. do you ever have a problem with your sub fluttering?

try turning down the gain and see if that will alleviate the problem.

 

I only have my gains at like halfway. Never had the sub fluttering problem. I'll try turning down my gains but I hope not to lose too much bass.

Dude the ground is too close to ur RCA's

 

I have the same problem, but not when changing tracks, Once i TUrn the radio off/car off, a few seconds later, you hear a big boom. Well depending on how high the bass control **** is set.

Of course it would... If the RCA's are too close to the grounding wire they will pick up all sorts of stuff.

Ok... where is your remote turn on wire for the amps connected? If its anywhere other than the radio ur picking up feedback

 

no they won't. the whole car acts as a massive ground.

i had that problem when i was running an aftermarket headunit with the stock bose amps/speakers ...

I ended up getting an "premium sound" adapter which was pretty much a manual volume control and it did fix the problem. i used to get pop sounds when changing tracks, radio stations or switching sources.

 

This is a different problem. This problem can be alleviated by delaying the power down of your amps/external crossover a few seconds so they power down after the headunit.

 

Pick up feedback though your turn on wire? I never heard of this. This problem sounds like bad grounds or faulty equipment to me. The boom heard is usually (if not always) coming through RCA's.

 

This is what happens in my car except it only does it on the sub... I'm going to try changing the grounds today.

 

i have mine grounded to the antenna box...i think. it might be the remote box for your key fob. and the remote to my HU. im spliced into the rear deck speaks to hi/lo input.
it has always made a thump but not when i change songs only when i turn it on/off or change CDs. it made it alot louder when i put another 12 in with a much bigger box.
i have tried diffrent grounds but it's a b*ch and ive only found two in there. where i have it now, under the right pannels to a bolt on the box. and ive had it to the bottom trunk latch where i still had the same THUMP problem.

would it make this noise if i have the speaker wires spliced in after the amps? i didnt even check if i had done that part right

Did you read this entire thread? I already stated how to solve turn off noise/thump. Delaying this turn off can be as simple as adding the right value capacitor to the turn on wire.

It's the thump between tracks and stuff that is a little baffling.

 

Actually, he does know what he's talking about. The whole chassis is a ground plane. The power is DC and will not induce noise in an AC signal, so this is NOT an issue in a car. You can wrap an RCA with the power wire and you will never induce noise. And this business about crossing signal paths at 90 degrees only works with two AC signals. Get your facts straight before you blast someone else. Your agument says that the whole chassis is a noise antenna....think about it.

sure, just give me the link from the stickies that explains why rca's shouldn't be placed near a ground.

 

thats only if you run a 500 farad cap off of a 90 amp charging system and say that it helps with dimming

 

Well, mine says 1F on the side and my lights dim a whole lot less!

My headunit alone is 320 watts!
