Tatanko finally gets a Maxima...

Yes folks, you read right, the "forum's youngest member" finally gets a Maxima to call his own. With over 2 years of learning about Maxima's under my belt, I love it. I love every second of driving this car.

It's a '95 SE...pebble beige...black cloth interior...auto (wanted manual )...all options except leather pretty much...115,000 miles (doesn't scare me a bit )

I'll post pics tommorrow, since it's dark out now.

Quick question, it has Bose audio, and it basically ate my CD. Worked fine all day until tonight after work, I hit the CD eject button to make sure the CD was still in it, it pops out like normal. I push it in, it gets stuck roughly 2/3 of the way in, just enough that I can't pull it back out. The stereo will now do NOTHING. Can't switch to radio or anything, I hit the power button, nothing. The only indication I have of the stereo even getting power is the tape deck light coming on when I turn on the headlights.

How the heck do I get my CD back, and what the heck is wrong with my Bose?

EDIT: The dealership also recently put hard asbestos brake pads on the car. I don't have the money to replace them at the moment, but they are LOUD AS H***. Makes my car sound like a rickety piece of crap at stop lights. The guy at the dealership said he could get softer ones, but that I'd go through them like nobody's business. Can anyone make some suggestions here? It's still under dealer warranty, so I can get them switched for free I think...

Thanks guys

congrats on the Max

sounds like the dealer used the Key Value brake pads. They put those on my '98 Altima a while back and boy were they noisy

I'm happy with the auto though. And it is impossible to find 5-spd's in PA...so I decided to settle on the auto. It's no biggy. Maybe swap down the road

Thanks.

Yeah, it's kind of ironic, 2 years ago I donated to the Org and got window stickers and a license plate holder. Didn't think I would even ever end up with a Maxima, but here I am. Putting that stuff on tommorrow too

Yep, exactly. I also settled on beige. Not my favorite color, but who really cares, I love the car anyway.

What? I don't get it...

I've never claimed to be any age other than what I was at the time...in fact when somebody argued my age, I usually made it a point to tell them how old I actually was. I'm proud to have been a member of this board even so young. I'm 16 1/2 now, got my license yesterday, got the Max today.

Just be careful while driving. A maxima is too good to ruin, I know how we teenagers are with cars, I had a 95 gxe that got totaled then I got a 97 se.

On the list for tommorrow:
-Wash

-Corner light rewire (brighter clearance light mod)
-Remove pinstripe (it has a black pinstripe )
-Body color B-pillar mod (the vinyl on there now is fading and splotchy)
-Maxima.org window stickers

Well I just bought the car and can't afford to replace something if I were to screw it up. So maybe not just yet!

Yup I can agree with this. Had a '96 Acura TL before my max, luckily I survived my wreck. Lets just say the Nissan gods didnt want me driving an acura. Total time driving the Acura = 2 months, total time driving the Maxima = 1.5 years and counting.....

Most people usually have a bad accident in their first year of driving, the good drivers learn from it, and im proof.

got one thing to say, you're younger than i am, but i've learned my lesson. race only on highways and not local. never take the shoulders and when you speed, think about that if you get a ticket, thats another good mod you're giving up. first ticket, $600. Second ticket, $460. Third ticket $260, yea....plus 2 points on the insurance which was probably another $1000 for 3 years. THATS ALMOST A SUPERCHARGER!!!!!!!

Congrats though, yeah if anything, just do a 5spd swap later on..like maybe when u graduate(graduation present)

You've already got a mod, the plastic wind deflector! I bought one fairly soon after I got my car new. They eliminate the wow/flutter present with the sunroof open and the driver's window rolled down a bit.

I believe you remove the burger with fishing line (alternatively perhaps a few strands of dental floss) and a hair dryer. Talk to an auto detailing shop about removing the dealer sticker - they must do it every day and could give tips.

congrats on your first car way to go gettin a max I dont know what the easiest way to remove the pinstripe but for the nissan hamburger use some fishing line and pull that in between the emblem and the paint and take your time also you'll probably want to get some stuff to help you remove the rest of the glue on the paint i dont remember what I used but someone on here should be able to help you out good luck with the mods

Goof Off or Goo Gone. Also, anything with Citric Acid in it will work to eat the glue. That works for the Pin Stripe, Vinyl tape(pillars) and Badges. Then Buff, and buff and buff.
About the CD player, Try disconnecting the battery for a little while then reconnect it. This may reset the unit. We had to do that to one of my friends stock units. Not a max though.
Hope that helps. Nice looking car by the way. Brings back Memmories of when I first got mine.

Thanks for the tips guys. The dealership I bought it from owes me a free detailing, but all I'm letting them do is degrease the engine bay. They may owe me a headunit, too. I think I'll let them take off the dealer badge themselves, along with the pinstripe. They have a professional detailer working for them. I have to wait til next week though, as he is off all week.

Anyway, got my camera to work and the car is all clean. The pictures turned out kind of dark though (?), and they don't even show that I waxed the car, but oh well...
