Installed the Apexi SAFC II piggy back computer. Productive Memorial Day morning. I like it alot. Also hardwired the Valentine into the cigarette lighter. Here is a link to the pics:

He is a young guy that started working for my company. We started in on mods when we met and the kid is a freaking wizard. He took off the ceiling console and drilled the hole for the wire then ran it down the A pillar and behind the glove box. I was very impressed. Cooked him a steak and slipped him 60 for his effort. Now I can't wait to get the thing tuned.
I liked how it hid away. My only complaint is that I now have a gap between the dash and the right A pillar. Never noticed if it was there before. My AF is in need of some tweaking, I can't wait to get it in the shop. I was hoping to do it today but the shop was booked. I have an appt for next Mon. I should have my new rims/tires on by then so I guess the wait will be ok in order to dyno the wheels too.
I did mine like that too. Except i put it more in the middle of the holder. i just cut a slit in the top of the holder for the wire, and ran it down the Apillar along with my radar detector cable. i had jsut enough slack

There are extensive writeups on this but real simply the SAFC modifies the signals going into your ECU to modify the amount of fuel injected into the motor. It allows you to set 12 separate points with a min of 200 rpm difference that you can adjust the stock air fuel map. If you look at the wideband AF map from a dyno some will like mine be fairly uneven, lean in some areas ( more air than gas) and rich (more gas) in others. The SAFC is the means of doing this. Chips are similar in ordering pants from a catalog. You tell them what kind of pants you wear and then what size. This SAFC will allow a dyno shop to tweak with the dyno results.

Thanks Mad. I understand a little more now. Basically, it boils down to managing the A/F more precisely. My confusion is still why you would need it for a slightly modded N/A car w/o spray. I can understand a boosted or spray application but I'm still sketchy.

Well my AF map looked pretty crappy. So I intend on fixing it. I was really high in some areas and low in others. Thats HP and I want it. And apparently that takes 260 bucks (GREAT deal!) and then off to the dyno shop. Plus I think it looks darn neat.
As far as the hard to see part. Thats the point. This isn't something I plan on tweaking much on my own on a daily basis. I also don't need to see the readout all the time. If I want to check something it is very easy to flip it down, check to see that I am still going where I want then glance and get a reading. I definitely don't want some pretty eyecatching snazzy piece of go fast out in the open. Especially if I am parked on the side of the road washed in blue flashers and illuminated with takedown lights. Tends to happen I am afraid...
