Ok this summer or as soon as I get money I am planning a supercharger. I am also more then likely going to buy another engine because mine has 210XXX on it. Would it make more sense for me to do any other modifications to the engine before I put it in and just wait until I have the kit to put the engine in? Would it make sense to attach all the parts I can before dropping it in? I have been reading everything on here about Superchargers, but I didn't find an answer to this. If I ask newbie questions flame me all I really know is that I have to read up on this to learn so thats what I have been doing. Thanks in advance.

Get the kit and then put the engine in...you can buy the engine first....
If you buy a replacement engine, you can put on the important things first...Drain Back plate, Oil Feed line...dont put on the blower before the engine gets dropped in, it may be trickey to drop it in nice and not damage anything.

You may want to change on the injectors while the engine is out since it will be all easily accesable, if you plan on doing injectors and such....

That is true but if something is tricky to put in I would rather put it in first instead of struggling I guess to put it in after. Injector wouldn't really matter because the IM would be off anyway while I was putting it on. But thanks for the help and if anyone else has something helpful definitly say something.

 

I'd not do a different engine unless you have reason to believe your current engine has actual problems (other than having alot of miles).

And yes I agree don't do them both at the same time if you decide to do both, do the engine, get any problems with that worked out, then do the SC.

 

what is easier to install? a Engine or a SCer?

A SCer install is about a 12 hour install for someone that has not done it. A engine install is two complete days for someone that has not done one.

A bad azz can drop a SCer in under 9 hours or less. A engine install can be done in 12 hours on the dot. I 've done plenty and seems to be pulling engines on a regular bases. Maybe thats the reason I can t seem to boost my car again

 

Anyone share that opinion? My dad said that too so maybe I shouldn't change it unless something went wrong with it.

 

do a compression test if all cylinders are above 150psi and within 15psi of each other you should be fine and i wouldnt change it

 

I don't see any reason to pull the motor unless it is giving your problems.

 

do not i repeat do not do all you mods at once. I have just experienced alot of problems due to doing a whole bunch of modifications at once(i am sure some of you guys remember what i am talking about )

If your motor checks out fine just buy a spare and have it ready to swap in if something happens

 

That is a good question. And, yes, there would be things you could do that would make the SC install a lot easier while the engine is out of the car (belt adjuster assembly, idler pulley, etc.) but I would advise against it. Get the new engine in first and make sure everything works fine for +/-500 miles. Then start the install. One thing at a time.

After all this I guess I will do a compression test and leave it in, but I will get one to put in my garage anyways. Man this forum is way better then 4th gen forum.

 

So based on this thread I should not worry about S/Cing my engine with 140K since it is running good.... sweeet....! So much more bang for buck than weight reduction!

 

I wouldn't worry. Most of the strongest running cars on this board have or had very high mileage. My old car, krismax, my current beater, etc etc etc.

 

Higher mileage cars weigh less???

Actually there is no better bang for the buck than weight reduction. Weight reduction is free.
