One of those "What should I do with my $$$?" question...

Alright so I saved up few bucks and I got about $400~$600 to spend on anything I want. I'm debating between (CF hood) or (Cefiro + Gen II) or (head unit or a amp+sub). Been looking at things online this whole week and I can't decide.

What would you do? (Any other suggestions are welcome! Thanks.)

EDIT: To clarify few things.. for few things you probably can't tell by the pictures... ftsb/ypipe/exhausts/intake.. and it's maintained regularly very well and no repairs are needed at this time.

get whatever you like, its your car.

I say audio cause CF is boring and overrated, and I don't give a rats *** about headlights.

But I do have ~$800 in my audio system....

What kind of system you got? How easy was the headunit install? I have non bose and I think it should be simple if I get the installation kit + harness. Do you need one of those antenna adaptors? Sorry for all the Qs.

What kind of sound system do you presently have? Does it work ok? What maintenance issues are there with the car? If there are any, spend some of the money on fixing them first, then consider audio.

I have the stock non-bose system and just recently replaced all 4 speakers with pioneer TS-D701P speakers cause they were dying and wow that made a huge difference. I really want a nice head unit as well so I can have few more juice comming directly from the head unit. I recently put new starter in and other than that my car is running top notch.

I would jettison the CF hood as I think it makes a car look ricey. Personally, if the pic of your car is current, I think a nice window tint alone would add spice to your ride.

After that I'd probably do the cefiro headlight thing if it were me. If you have $600 to spend you might be able to get all three Tint/Cefiro/GenII, which would be a nice size change to your current setup and leave you smiling.

i'd get a 7" microvision display (take advantage of the group discount) and set it up with a sweet looking DVD headunit (pioneer [dunno if it plays VCD though] or JVC), or an amp+subs (12"!) (pioneer, alpine or kenwood) setup (if you do some smart shopping you might be able to do both) you could also look into what you could put under the hood perfomance-wise while your at it.

those wheels look like 5th gens just painted. how did you do/get that?

i agree with the guy who said if theres any repairs that need to be done take care of that first.
i dont care for cf anything. but cefiros just look so NICE imo.
If it were ME, i wouldnt blow it all, i'd just spend a little at a time. To me it seems boring to just buy everything you want because then youve got nothing else to improve. I'm not saying thats you, i'm just saying, its more exciting imo to spend a little to tease that maxima modding sweet tooth.

That would really make me happy but I would be sad getting ticketed every week. (tint) My car is already a cop magnet.

head over to the audio section and read/ask over there...you could get a solid h/u for ~200 and have 400 bucks to spend on sub/amp (this might be pushing it, but it could be done.

Well, I'm not talking about illegal dark, I think even a legal tint job would do wonders for the look of your whole car. It already has a somewhat sinister attitude even without tint. I think even 35 all the way around would look tre' cool.

That's just my .02, I think a certain tint gives class with attitude, but too dark just gives attitude.

Looks to me like you have enough appearance mods, and a decent amount of performance mods. If i were you, id go audio, definetley. It will complete your ride. Head over to the Audio/Electronics section for some suggestions.

Check out Alpine cda-9831 those are really good headunits, I have one myself. I think they go on ebay for around $230ish. I bought mine for $300, I remember when they came out last year they were in the $400's.

how much are you guys looking to spend on a system??? the best way to get a system is from someone that works in best buy. the discount that the employees get are RIDICULOUS!!! if not, cardomain.com has a sony package 2 - 12 and a decent amp which is pretty good for i think it was $269 bucks plus $25 shipping. Box you're gonna have to buy, and a cap and headunit. I have an alpine headunit which works great for sale but for some reason it doesn't play burnt cd's anymore.

If you get a amp + sub, get the head unit also, sounds much better with a head unit.

CF hood saves weight, you're gonna need that after you put those subs in. Or you can go to AC or Turning stone (if you're not 21) gamble for a few hours and see if you can buy everything... ...or nothing at all....(cause you lost it all)

but tell you the truth, i'd do a retro-fit with that money

Damn, wtf you doing up at 4AM??

AC sounds good.. some hold'em at Taj sounds very nice..

I wonder if there's anyone in the org, in our area, who works at best buy, who can also hook me up. =) I know they get HUGE discounts on audio cause I used to work there way back in high school.. At the time, discount was whatever best buy spent to get that product in + 5% more on top of that.. it was nearly 50% off..

best buy employees don't get huge discounts on everything, just on certain things.. other things they hardly get anything off at all. they do get good discounts on car electronics, however. And Kormax, you shouldn't be buying your entire system from bestbuy, if you do... well just don't.. maybe a headunit, and maybe speakers at most.

NONE !!! go do some performance mods and take care of your baby.... 00VI, ECU, flywheel, UDP, Groundkit system, optima battery, suspension, light weight rims (enkei), toyo proxes...if you have money left (IF) then go and do some lighting upgrades, then go do some new car carpet, floor carpets and diamond plate mats (you want your baby smelling goood), then leatherseats (a+ for the smell), then dash trim, and last bot not least...AUDIO. and if you still have money left...then get a new paint job and wax the shi** out of her. DONE

It is soooooo hard for me to not buy any mods. I just sleep on the thought of doing ECU, UDP, 00VI, coilovers, Cattman Y-Pipe to fix the terrible budget Y. I am determined not to mod anymore to save for a 5.5 gen ... or just to keep a checking account with money in it. A good motivation to me is the thought that I will never beat anything other then stock civics. I mean in reality any decently modded civic/Integra, 5.5 gen, 3000GT, Cobras, Supras, 350Z, G35, hell even a Prelude can spank us. Sure if you went super/turbo charged, ECU, and 00VI you can take plenty but that is a LOT of money.

Point in the post ... save your money. Drop the car a few inches and call it a day.

None: keep the max stock, running and so fresh and so clean. Save another couple hundred- go to urbanracer and get a cheap civic (for a grand or so). Then DYI swap, suspension, turbo, intercooler, fill, sand, paint (no flash n dash), integ dash, s2000 seats, steelies, "tint to sleep"... pull up to a riced out max and SPANK!!!

Don't get me wrong I love my max. The max will get you around nicely in the winter and you got backup.

as long as you already have a decent head unit i would go for and amp and sub, and get a new head unit latter. A sub would be a bigger difference in your music then just a head unit would be. Check out etronics.com for audio gear, the prices are great and service is awesome as well, i have bought a lot from them.

i didnt read any of the replies yet... dont have the time.
here is how you should budget your money when you have a 4th gen.

these are not in any particular order.

1. wait for the OEM tires to get low and change them to something lots better!

2. performance shocks and or struts (lowering springs would help too) i think you have to reset your alignment or it will create to much - camber.

3. rear anti sway bar!!!! - this helps alot, i mean alot! well worth it, almost a whole new car and it performs much better!

4. front strut brace... this made it really good too, not as much as the anti sway but it helped alot, i did this before the rear anti sway bar. also the rear strut might not be needed, i hear alot of people dont see much of a differnce, but should make it more stable at least alittle.

5. most people would like to use a hi-flow intake, while it adds some HP at higher speeds it gets rid of your low end. keep the stock setup and if you want to make it louder and add some more performance, just hack the box to benifit more cold air from a source - save the money basically.

6. y-pipe is going to benift the most power, you alread did this but for otehrs to see, do it first. tho this may be alot of work for some people and in certain states - rusting and time will do a number on the cars... myne was a *****, i needed a new ypipe anyways because of the rust (i live in chicago where it rains alot and snows). a b-pipe is also nice and will help alittle with HP, but only 3hp max i would assume... use the stock mufler because its quite and wont gain any hp no mater which one you use, tho some aftermarket mufflers will be quiter.

CF Hood + Pins - its not going to help enough in my opinion. but it looks really cool, not worth the money / performance ratio at all.

Cefiro head lights (are these illigal in some states?)

Gen II tail lights (dunno, i want skyline tail lights - but i dont really care about image much)

Nice head unit (this probably means using an 80$ attachment (best buy comment) to use the stock speakers... else you will have to re-wire and replace the speakers too, the factory bose speakers are propriatry and wont work without the stock head unit. i plan to replace and rewire the speakers and get a new head unit, adding a sub and amp while im at it. i prefer kenwood head units mainly excelon branding but best buy doesnt offer that ... free install with best buy so i might rethink it, i could do the work myself but have to find time.)

Amp + Sub (subs that i prefer have alot of SPL, so i go for "audiobaun" or "infinity perfects" other subs also sound just as good if not better, but i want a higher spl than say Rockford fosgate etc... as for amps, its far to competitve and to many to choose from.

do your research first, dont take my word for it.

If you were to buy a POS Civic to heavily aftermarket ... what trim would you get and what year? I was thinking LX and then swap for Acura Integra LS Engine.

i voted for audio. id go with a nice double din HU or a single DIN alpine. theres a good one for around 250 which leaves enough for accessories (i.e. bose adapter from crutchfield)... but yeah if youve installed a HU before its not much different besides for factoring in the bose level adapter, which is not hard. might i suggedt tho a microvision screen and dvd player? 180 i htink for the screen and theres probably a DIN sized dvd player out there for 200 or less... but just pop the screen in where the stock radio came from (fits perfect) and the dvd player in the fold down/slide out tray, and call it pimp,
