e brake light on... ALL THE TIME, any clue?

ok, for the past 2 weeks my e brake light is on. of course, i dont have the brake pulled up. i drive fine and all, but that damn light just doesnt go away. i was wondering if it might be something i should worry about. last 'major stuff' i did was changin da oil after 7k miles (didnt havet he time to do it before) and changed the tps. what in the world is going on now? 95 gxe auto by the way.

Probably low on brake fluid. This is one of those questions that makes you feel retarded after you find out the answer.

check your fluids, and you may need to bleed system if air has sucked in.
also, it could mean ur pads are wearing out, but that is usually denoted with scraping, high pitch squeeling sounds. indicators..

If it is not the brake fluid or brakes, it could be the electrical wire on the e brake that came off and is constantly touching ground, I've also heard of the capacitor for the e brake light going bad that causes it to stay on all the time, not uncommon in an older vehicle.

Lets clear a few things up:

1. As DAVE Sz already stated in the first reply, the most likely cause is low brake fluid.

2. As your pads (front and rear) start wearing down, more fluid is needed in the calipers since the pistons need to be extended further - this means that there is less fluid left in the brake fluid reservior. Typically, unless there is a leak, low brake fluid (in the reservoir) is a good indication that your pads are "wearing". I would recommend taking the time to inspect the pads at each wheel and make sure that you don't need new pads before blindly topping off the fluid.
