I keep hearing about how gas mileage is improved with larger wheels on the freeway and how the top speed goes up to 160 mph. Today I drove it 110 but I did not see any difference with the RPMs. It seems the same as when I had my stock 15s on

....

The only affect a bigger tire would have is if it had a bigger overall circumferance. There is probably no difference in your 18" wheels vs. your 15" wheels because the diameter with a tire mounted is the same.. Now if you h ad a bigger rim with a large tire on it... like a truck tire.. Your top speed would be higher, your acceleration would be weaker and your speedometer would need to be calibrated...

So what does it mean when they say the speed rating is up to 160 for Maximas?

Speed rating on a tire is different. I belive a Z rated tire can go up to 160 and above. A V rated will go up to 149 and so on.. The max Se comes standard with V rated. I dont think a maxima could go much faster than 150... Maybe though...

Does the speedo go up to 160?

Is that what you mean? I doubt the Max really needs ZR-rated tires.
