Need Some Help With This. Body Paint Issue

Hi,

I took of the side modling stipes and found some rust under right side. I have pics below. What can I do to clean this up? I wanted to get it painted Black, Red, or Copper Orange. I called up shops around here and Maaco Paint Place said anywere from 200 to 10k. So they want to see the car and have me pick paint and stuff. But I here they dont prepare the body before they paint it, is this true? Could I sand the body down so they could paint it or wat. I had this gold color is sucks. Anyone in my area do paint jobs on the side lol? Thanks

Here are pics

Thanks Guys

I am gonna have them paint it. I will show before and after pics of it. It should be around 450 to 750 depending on my paint and gloss I pick. Just need about 200 bucks more and I can get it done. I cant freakin stand the GOLD is bothers me so much.

if you get the cheaper paint job, they may not paint the inner part of your doors and under the hood etc. you may wanna check into that.

um resize your pics because now people have to scroll across for the long paragraph i wrote

also. [2cents] i have no idea how maaco can do this but they f up every paint job they do. im sure the ones you see on thier commercials the before is actually after they wreck the car on purpose and the after pic is before they wrecked it.

u pay for what you get.....s h i t

think if someone says there is a 10k paint job and youre gonna pay 450 bucks, youre gonna get a crap job

Maaco

Thank You!!! I can't stand Maaco. I have been in the paint business for 20 years and places like Maaco give bodyshops a bad rep. Please stay away from them. Trust me, it will haunt you for years to come. It is not just the prep you have to worry about but the bad masking and the inferior products they use to keep their costs down. A good paint job will cost about $400 or more JUST for the materials if you use a decent brand. I charge about $1000 labor plus materials for most paint jobs I do and they spend almost 2 weeks in my shop getting done right, not 2 days in and out. Maaco uses kids off the street that they can pay near minimum wage to do a production line type job.

My jobs always look better than when the car was brand new because of the prep and attention to detail that goes into them. They have less orange peel and a lot more gloss. You ever see something like that come out of Maaco, please take pictures to show me.

Jerry

Oh look, two of the exact same cars painted perfectly by Maaco and sporting Ford badges. Looks are deceiving my friend.
Jerry. Want to fly to Toronto and paint mine?
I totally agree. Maaco is a mistake-o.
A few years back when I lived in Los Angeles I had my bumper painted. I got it back with overspray all over the car. The shop owner insulted me by insisting the overspray was there before they painted it, and told me to bring it up with head office. I did. I refused to leave their office, and eventually a guy in a suit came out to clay-bar my entire car. What a joke.

THEY MAY do a good job. Tape it, prep well, but the paint they use daosen't last. Thats why they have a series of different paint job QAULITIES. But the only they do is add more clear coats.
