Speed at 330' mark?

Trying to figure out at what speed one reaches the 330' mark. Figure a 330' time of 6.0sec for the sake of discussion.

Actually I'm trying to figure out how many ft you can run in 1st gear with a 6800revlimit if somebody really has time on their hands.

I do 0-60 in 5.0 seconds flat on street tires, so I would guess that 6 seconds for me is around 65-70 mph.

Tilley says he does 0-60 in 4.6 on the slicks so I am assuming 6.0 would be about 75 for him.

75mph in 6 seconds? and then another 7 seconds to go 25 more mph? (based on 1/4 mile time) seems too fast a speed at 6 seconds to me. here is my calc.
Everything below is based on my car.

7000rpm limit is around 42mph in first gear. That would be an average speed of 21 mph in first gear over 3 seconds (cartest) from a dead stop. 21mph at 3 seconds is around 92 ft. In my car, 1st gear would be good for 92ft.
This is with a dragstrip style launch at WOT (2.17 60 ft time). I pulled a few numbers from cartest.

cartest shows my car at the 330' mark at 5.9 seconds and 64mph. that would be just over 6000rpm in second gear.

hope this helps.

Tilley is on slicks and pulls 1.9 60' foots, so 75 mph in 6 seconds is not out of the question. I am slower and pull low 2.1s on street tires but I seem to have a bit more power.

No he's not going to be going much faster if any. I'd bet 1-2mph faster at the 330 mark at most, as compared to if he ran on street tires. I'll do some cartest sims with slicks and street tires here in a minute. If he were going 10mph faster at the 330 it would reflect in his 1/8th speed, but it doesn't so he isn't.

What I mean is that he gets to said speed faster. For example he might get 103 mph on both slicks and street tires, but get there .4 faster with the slicks.

Thanks everyone. I just couldn't picture the gearing. Wanted to make sure there was plenty of room on 23.6" diam tires to run it out in 2nd gear. Now I realize we're basically running the length of a football field into the endzone @ 60ish mph.

Well, the speed at which you would be going at the 330 mark is heavily dependant on your 60 foot time, traction, gearing, and overall power.

I ran some quick numbers in CarTest for my car with automatic tranny, stock gearing and stock tire size, with decent traction off the line.

With a 2.12 60', 6.0 330' time, and 3.64 final drive and stock sized tires; you would be going 60.15mph at the 330' mark.

I also played around and did a 4.08 final drive (what I'm about to be) with 22" slicks. I had to back the power back down to get a 6.0 330' and I got about 60mph even at the 330' mark.

This is all considering that you have no traction problems and have the ability to cut a decent 60' (<2.15). Of course this mph figure would be way off if you were a turbocharged Maxima running 10psi on street tires. But it gives you an idea of how fast you would be going at the 330' mark if you have an automatic all motor Maxima that is running around 14.4 or 14.5 @ 95mph in the 1/4 mile.

My final drive is 3.82 BTW.
