Illegal Y-pipes in NJ?!

is it street legal to put a y pipe on my Max? im hearing conflicting things from people, and i need an informed person to set the record straight.

you'll pass inspection without any problems...just make sure your car is warm up prior to inspecting yr car...

They are not street legal anywhere in the US.... but you will pass emissions like ^^ he said.

that was my initial point of my post! to post *****! lol...yeah i agree with you that most of these people just won't take a hint if only one person gives advice...

it is illegal to remove any emmisions component. 2001 Y pipes remove a pre-cat so its illegal...but you'll pass emmisions with a warm engine.

Yea,my inspection is due by the end of june, so i'll just wait. then i have 2 years of crime until next inspection.

Most importantly tho....i have a floor jack,stands,and tools. its just take of the old,bolt on the new,right?

you can still pass inspection, but you can wait if you want. the install should be pretty easy, ive never done it, but alot of people here have, it takes time, but its nothing you cant do. are you in toms river?

Changing pipes is a breeze. The higher you can get the front the easier it will be. It took me like 20-30 min with a floor jack and jack stands.

Yes, but be careful not to break any bolts. I broke a bolt on my 02 with only 38K miles on it and I can only imagine how much more corroded your bolts are.

Im in forked river,like 5 minutes from toms river.
I didnt even buy the y pipe yet, but today my street scenes grille arrived. I was all ready to dremel out my oem grille,until it came time to do it. I put it off until tomorrow
